The chances are as good as none, but I've been dreaming the Steelers sign Zach Brown to play alongside Vince Williams. He fits the Shazier mold: blazing fast. I would eat my shirt if Colbert finds a way to ink him to a contract.

$14M for a running back that is almost double in salary kinda irks me. We could sign two decent RBs and fill a lot of holes on D with that money.
Everyone knew that especially when they had to tag him. That was the worst case scenario for improving the D. The only FA we might sign will be Timmons, if we even sign him.

look at the available RBs. if we didn't tag Bell, there wouldn't have been anyone on that available list who could carry his jock strap.
Eagles LB Mychal Kendricks is being shopped no that they resigned Nigel. Maybe another possibility.........
honestly I do not think Hargrave has the girth to play NT to me he is more of a 3T, if he adds 15-20 solid LBS he will be 6"1 325-330, the optimal size for an NT and at 6"1 he can use his low center of gravity and great penitration ability to lock the C & RG.
In a 3-3-5 due to his quickness and lack of bulk's, he cant hold down the A gap but he is quick that he can easily kick out to the 5T and either Tyson or Cam play the nose, where he have seen cam use a combo of his size and speed easily get 5 + sacks the past 3 years. However if butler can be creative it would be nice to see a 4-2-5 at times vs 3 wr sets where we can use a combo of many rotations like even Dupree at RE and both heyward and tuitt inside and chickello at LE and then the 2 LB Watt and eithier a guy who will drop back or vince to come on a deley blitz.

We wouldn't be looking for anyone to come in and replace his touches - just a portion of them. JuJu should get some more catches. MB should get more catches. McDonald or a higher drafted TE would get more touches and AB will be AB. The RB position would need to get 1,200+ on the ground and preferably 1,500 but not one RB will need to get it all.
as for te look at Eifert at a low-cost deal and gates
I would try to have two good moves on defense in place and then just say we are not going to sign Bell. We will get a cheap one in FA if we cant get a draft pick we like.
RB market is drying out quickly just like ILber.
Do tye 9ers have a decent inside backer. If they lose Hyde tgey need a back. Straight up trade.
Just disgusted! Hyde, Williams n decent level FA safety, along with James Conner, 1st, 2nd n 3rd round combo of ILB, S n RB, but now with flexibility in order of BPA of those 3 makes the Steelers overall a better, if not significantly better team than Bell, no ILB/S or off scrap heap n rookies forced into immediate playing duties. The Steelers contend every year, but the last couple keep coming up short with emmense talent... sometimes it's necessary to at least tweak the formula. Bell may result in being the reason we continue to be extremely competitive, but don't get over the hump in Bens last 2-4 years, and when Ben is gone, who knows how bad it could get???
