Big AL taking a little shot at Tomlin?

Riddle me this batman == HOW do you control Grown men on social media ???

Is it in their contract ?
do you sit your best players for violating he policy? ( I can just imagine the comment for a healthy scratch for Bell for a big game )

Social media is a big problem -- I had a conversation with a friend of mine the other day -- he said the Cowher had a better grasp and more discipline -- Cowher DID NOT HAVE TO CONTEND with Social media ...

I use social media facebook only -- I hate TWITTER -, snapchat -- and all the others ..

Think about it guys .. what can you do ..

I'm amazed how little reading some of you people do.

So this has zero to do with Tomlin or the organization. Reading this thread, you would never know that. Funny how that works.
Yeah he said that after his comments about it going beyond talent. Damage control there, he realized what he said.

So how do you interpret that? "We have the talent, but it may go beyond talent" what does that mean "If I knew I'd be doing press conferences on Tuesdays"

What does 20+ other teams do? Most large companies have social media policies in their employee handbooks, most state that any social media interactions that reveal company information, reflect negatively on the company in their relationship with you, or any behavior deemed detrimental will be met with suspension, termination or financial ramifications. It's really not that difficult. What is difficult is actually having the back bone to see it thru, to hold everyone accountable, and to realize that any deviation even for one person sets the whole policy up to fail. Social Media is only a distraction to a company if you allow it to be one.

I agree that it's the bane of society. I don't even have Facebook. And I don't have any idea how you limit it. Especially considering that it's the way this generation defines their entire life, not to mention how narcissistic all of it is in nature.

Tomlin is not getting fired. Can we please all agree on that.

Check the news. This is the closest thing he's been to on the hot seat. The Minority owners ( and many fans ) want him out. The players are taking some read between the line shots. Not just one, but several.

Tomlin has had his chances.

3-5 in the last 8 playoff games with our talent = sucks.

Probably not. Unfortunately, Art the Deuce is a steaming pile of liberal excrement that even with facts in his face will keep his opinionated logic front and foremost.

The best thing to do is maybe promote Munchak to assistant HC and see if he will wait it out until Tomlin “retires” after his contract is up. Give Munchak more authority in the day-to-day operations and give Tomlin more “perceived” authority than actual authority.

That gives the Rooney’s a way to save face on hiring and not firing Tomlin but gives the Steelers a shot at a Super Bowl. Question is would Munch like seeing Tomlin getting the accolades for his doing?

Well at least you refrained from calling him Coach Token in this thread, so that's a step in the right direction I suppose.

LOL nice job projecting the fairy tale in your head onto what you think Rooney and the Steelers should be doing. If you think the majority owner is a 'steaming pile of liberal excrement' and you despise the head coach equally, why in the world are you following this team?

Yes, let's agree to that. Can we also agree the decision making process exhibited by HC Mike Tomlin shows clear signs of ineptitude?

Yes

Again -- you can have the policies -- but how do you enforce it ..

Minority owners and fans don't have a say in what happens -- they can complain all they want but -- ONLY the Rooney's control that

Start with Fines, if that doesn't work suspend them for a game. Allow peer pressure of not letting your team down by not being on the field help to improve decision making. Be willing to bleed a little until people realize that there is a zero tolerance policy in place and you WILL get punished for violations. Until there is a zero tolerance policy from the top down it is a moot point.

Money talks, minority owners still contribute valuable money to the organization. You better believe that if enough minority partners get together that Rooney is going to listen.

The same way you control children, with a set of rules that are clearly defined and consistently enforced.

When Welker was the best WR in NE, BB sat him for the beginning of a playoff game for talking **** about an opposing coach. Players only complain about rules when they're losing games, no one in NE complains about BB being a tyrant. Maybe Harrison went to NE because he was tired of playing for an over-rated man-child of a coach.

A question to those who want to look it up. When was the last time a 13-3 team failed to win a playoff game? Fellas, it could be 10 years or more since it happened.

God, you just always love to set yourself up:
-2012 Denver Broncos: 13-3, lose to the Baltimore Ravens in Divisional Round
-2010 Atlanta Falcons: 13-3, lose to the Green Bay Packers in Divisional Round
-2009 San Diego Chargers: 13-3, lose to the New York Jets in Divisonal Round

Yep. As much as I hate to admit it, the P*ts and Belicheat have the blueprint for social media, avoiding giving the other team bulletin board material, not airing dirty laundry.

Jokers like the Bengals are on the other end of the spectrum.

Under Art Rooney II and Tomlin we act and sound more like the Bengals every passing year. They either create a culture that tolerates it or snufs it out

It made a difference in a 3 point playoff game Sunday

IIRC the Rooneys are the majority owners and face of the franchise but Dan and Art2 only own like 30% between them... the minority owners make up more than 60% of the ownership.. they absolutely can force something if they wanted and were unanimous

I don't have a fool proof answer but I do know one thing that until anyone is held to accountability nothing will change. Set out the rules or in coach cool shades words.......set the standard. If and when that standard is broken, hold the person accountable, wheather it is a monetary $$$$ fine or a public ridicule or something internal. The bottom line is consistant accountability works and that is what is so lacking in from this team. Just my two sense and a suggestion.

Salute the nation

I did not read that as a shot at Tomlin. But this clearly defines how the media works today, make something said fit your agenda.

He is a Veteran Army OFFICER, no way in hell does he say how he feels to ANYONE. That is just not done. The enlisted, yeah, that is why you have Non Judaical Punishment, and it is used FREQUENTLY.

I read it as "If I knew how to do that job, I would be doing it" He may very well hate Tomlin, but he has way too much experience to open his mouth.

Even though our record showed 13-3, I never thought of us as a 13-3 team; we had so many last minute victories we could have easily been 10-6 or worse. Very few games we dominated anyone. I can't say I was overly confident we would win any given game - especially after the early loses to Jax and Chicago, not to mention a less than inspiring opening day win over the clowns. I do have to admit I was hopeful after the loss to NE. I thought that was one of our best efforts and we deserved to win, even without that last minute INT. We controlled most of that game. But it always seemed like sooner or later the house of cards was going to fall. Sunday was that day unfortunately.

And their coaches? How did they fare?

Welp, I didn't see that Coach had asked that, making the fact that it happened multiple times, in the timeframe that he referenced no less, that much more fun to point out. That said, John Fox had a pretty decent run in Denver. He did have an embarrassing loss in the lwoB repuS, but Gary Kubiak took "his players," and won the lwoB repuS a couple years later. Mike Smith had a pretty average run in Atlanta, because he was a pretty average coach. He had three losing seasons, and four winning seasons. Norv Turner is just a joke as a head coach, and it's unknown why the Chargers put him in charge after canning Marty Schottenheimer.
