Say what you will about Jessie James, but he is NOWHERE as bad as some of you want to believe. When he is given the chance he has proven he can get it done. He may not be Heath Miller or Mark Bruener, so what, not many are. He just keeps putting in the work and shows that he can be a receiver when it is needed. Add to it, he is the only one that seems to be able to stay on the field.

Where have these passes over the middle to the TEs been? Better late than never, I hope they keep going over the middle moving forward now.

I like Jesse's effort. He is maximizing his talent level.

I also like what I have seen from McDonald (when healthy which isn't often). His hands seemingly has improved, and he gets separation.

Grimble IMO has regressed. A small disappointment, but a disappointment none the less.

Naturally, after Clank comes out and makes some nice catches he gets hurt again

Vance McDonald highlights an otherwise injury-free game

The Pittsburgh Steelers clinched the AFC North Sunday night with an exciting last-minute over the Baltimore Ravens. And better yet they did with without any serious injury issues. This team is already so banged up the last thing they needed was more guys getting hurt.

Tight end Vance McDonald was the only in-game injury of note. He had his best game of the season before leaving with a shoulder injury. This is unfortunate as he had finally returned from an ankle injury that cost him the last three games.

James definitely takes a bad rap on here. When he is called upon he usually answers. He could have a lot more catches if they use him. It is not his fault that they don't throw him the ball. He has also had decent YAC and is not as slow as some say. I think he is above average and under rated / appreciated

James was the real deal last night. I think too many people think all TEs should be at the Gronk level, and that ain't gonna happen. Jesse is a good, solid player. And if used like he was last night, he's fantastic at moving the chains on third down.

Not everyone is a superstar. Solid is good enough. When the matchup is right he can be featured. They should have spent more time figuring out how to use him and less time trying to figure out how to replace him with Deuce Staley's younger, taller and fairer skinned brother.

James had a very good game last night and made the most of his opportunities. However, I still think he's limited to a No. 2 tight end and would love to see the Steelers add a legitimate starter at some point.

when you have Ben, AB, Bell maybe it's ok to have just a #2 tight end to complement, there's so much money to spend on skill players

James is having a good year. If Vance wasn't here, Jesse would have at least 10 or 15 more catches and would be playing even better. He has been nothing but steady and reliable.

Well, we're gonna need him bigtime next week. They will double AB and probably not even pay attention to JJ. Dump offs and quick hits are going to be the way to go next week.

JUJU and Bryant deep on every play if they double AB! Pats secondary aint that great

U know Ben don't like to dink and dunk

There's nothing wrong with Jesse as a player. He's never going to be a game breaker but he's reliable, has good hands and shows great effort.....everything a fan favorite needs to be. He is very valuable as that safety valve for Ben. He's not as fast or athletic as McDonald but he's much more durable and has better hands.

I dig him. He's missed a couple he should have had, and made a couple he should have missed.

I'm not counting on him to win the game but I'm glad he's on the team.

I'll even forgive him for having a girl's name. And just because he got caught wearing high heels once in college means nothing. Nothing, I tell you!

Jesse James is the best TE we have on this team right now. He is on the field and playing above his line. Don't thin k for one minute how much a BETTER TE could improve this offense as JJ is just an average TE, no more yet no less. Is his work ethic blue collar something our fans respect,.....HELL yea but don't kid yourself that if we got a durable faster TE, many here would say Jessie WHO????? Love the guy and root as hard for him as possible but still realize he can ONLY bring so much and that much is the level he is playing right now.

Salute the nation

So the song Jesse's Girl is about a lesbian? Who knew?

He was big on that 3rd and 13 on the last offensive drive.

Look at the numbers 7-26-84 throw up there, you can't really expect James to put up another thousand. He does what we need him to do.

Offense seems to be clicking now. Defense needs to step up this week.

Im not a Penn St fan, but I'm a fan of Jesse James.

All he does is show up healthy and willing. He catches almost everything they throw his way and keeps the chains moving.
They have AB, JuJu, and Bell for those 45-yard plays, that isn't needed from the TE position. All we need from our TE is to be a DEPENDABLE safety valve option to move the chains when one of the others can't get open quickly. We don't need Vance, we didn't need Green, and we don't need any other broken down speedster at TE, never did.

We definitely do need Vance. I like what JJ does, but you can never have too many playmakers. Vance is capable of making that big play that might win you a SB.
