Several Seahawks player are calling for an end to Thursday games because they believe there is an increased risk for injury.
Legitimate gripe or butt hurt whining...what say ye?

Um...been saying this for years. Just an nfl money grab. Who can blame them...its a business. Just dont talk out of the other side of your mouth and pretend you care about player safety.

Would have to see the Thursday,Sunday, and Monday injury statistics.

Michael Irvin said the only reason for Thursday games is greed of the owners. Won't argue that, but for players to say that is the pot calling the kettle black. Wait...was that racist?

The very first time they had TNF is was limited to 4-6 games, I think. Then they extended to 8 or 1/2 season now it's like 14 games. I think this is just a contributing factor to injuries. The most contributing is the LACK of hard practices and without pads. There is no time to teach or learn how to take contact. Combine this and the fact that the athletes have grown BIGGER than their bodies can handle, it's no wonder injuries occure. I know it's a rough / tough sport and injury is going to happen but I think the elevated amount is partly due to these issues.

Totally against TNF especially how it is favored to home team with contributes to the unbalance game. If it continues the game should ONLY be between two teams coming off the bye. Scheduling nightmare but worth the effort. MONEY grab no doubt but the HIGH paid athletes should know by now that the NFL is a buisness and looks at bottom line the most. Athletes are replaceable.

Salute the nation

more players get hurt on Sundays, maybe we should ban those games too

Playing 2 games in 5 days is a terrible idea. This gives a short week of zero rest to players, when normally they'd have 3 days off. Mon, Tue, and Sat are not practice days normally. Wed, Thu, and Fri are. Without rest, bodies will not recover from the previous game. We'll see how we feel in a week after we've played 2 games in 5 days.

players are full of ****. They complain and then the owners show them a check and they say OK, Thursday games, why not?

So cancel the thanksgiving game too? Isn’t that Thursday.

This article says no, there are actually fewer injuries on Thursday nights: https://www.footballoutsiders.com/stat-analysis/2017/do-thursday-games-cause-more-injuries

With that said, I can't stand Thursday night football (or any night games for that matter), especially when the Steelers play. Coincidentally, my interest in the NFL as a whole began to wane when Thursday night football became a thing. Way too many time windows with games on now and I don't have time to watch them all. The NFL basically trained me to learn to not care about missing a game because of this. Well done!

Thursday night games usually suck. The league got greedy adding them as an extra. The kickoff Thursday and Thanksgiving Thursday are really the only time they make sense. Other than that, cut this out of the schedule. Do double header Monday night games if you really want to make it fair for the players. They do double header Monday on the first week of the season and it works just fine.

My two cents...

Unless the stats say differently - I don't think any 'one team' is scheduled for multiple Thursday night games. Yes, injuries are unfortunate but this is FOOTBALL - just play the games on your schedule and win them...

A ton of players have been saying this for years. Rog apparently is actually considering it. Although, I just can't see it happening. It's all about money to the owners and Rog. If they are considering adding games to the regular season, I just can't see them getting rid of Thursday nights. Unless, of course, that is their compromise.

I guess that's the chance you take when you go into playing football instead of going med school.

I believe if they limited Thursday night game to team ONLY after a Bye Week they alleviate the issue

1. Nobody ever complained about the "injury factor" for Thanksgiving games.
2. Its one game a year. You know where it is on the schedule. If its that big a concern, then coaches could adjust playing time the week prior.
3. You get a 10-11 day break afterwards.
4. Everyday guys hardly play at all in the preseason anymore, and their full contact practices are limited. Darn sure there isnt any on the 3 days between Sun-Thurs games.
5. After a win, most teams are given Monday as well as Tuesday off.
6.Poor freaking guys, imagine if they worked a regular job, then found out mid shift they needed to pull a double, and then were expected back the next day. Sorry, no sympathy from me.

Thursday games were meant to give coverage to teams that never get on national tv - it was never supposed to showcase top teams

Really? I thought Monday Night Football took over that distinction. After NBC took over, and made Sunday Night Football the big Prime Time Game.
