Josh Dobbs. Fools gold or worth the wait?

Kaepernick is significantly better than any QB on the Steelers roster not named Roethlisberger and was voted by his teammates as the Len Eshmont award winner, given to the 49er who "best exemplifies the inspirational and courageous play of Len Eshmont."

I've had enough. Steelers start kneeling,, I'm done. Sign Kapernick,, done.. Swear to god.

LOL, Wilson, and Prescott showed good ability right out of the gate. Our guy has not impressed in camp and is dead last at the QB rating this pre-season. You can not sink any lower.

I am not saying cut Dobbs now. He's our 3rd best Qb by default, however the Steelers might want to look at the wavier wire in the final cuts.

PS: If I had the say we do not draft Dobbs at all. And we would not have picked Golson either. I also wanted a DB over JU-JU to win while Ben was here, and we'll see how that ends up.

I did like the Pitt Qb ( Peterman ) a bit better. He went to Buffalo, I think.

I call BUSH, Dak was performing as a 4th round QB was supposed to. Had it not been for Romo's injury. He would still be sitting the pine. Maybe still the 3rd behind Moore.

Yeah you wanted a DB. I recall you screaming for Davis Webb in the 2nd too. This draft had a deep CB class. Sutton could be playing and be a stud, but unfortunately he got the injury bug. Well all liked Peterman, who may indeed become a quality pro starter, but let's wait and compare apples to apples instead of apples to oranges

Cripes almighty, glad you aren't a front office employee. You've figured out the career path of a kid who thrown 30 passes in the preseason. Forget about the fact he's playing against some first team defenses without some 1st team players on offense, nor has there been any game planning. He's the 3rd team QB, not the heir apparent to Ben. He's looked at as the future back up at the least.

He may end up like Dixon, Omar Jacobs or Tee Martin, but could turn out like a poor mans Wilson, Tyrod Taylor or Prescott. It's preseason, he's a rookie playing the most difficult position on the field. Relax, eat another snack cake from your recliner.

I'll be glad if he becomes a charlie batch

if you had a say, Troy Polamalu would be a HOfer for another franchise. Period.

Just like I thought, Dobbs is another poor man's Slash.....wormburners and all

maybe if they turned him into a WR....

Didn't Bradshaw rank near the bottom for several years before he proved his worth?

Impossible... his head wasn't too big and he was a surefire HOF player before camp even conviened... Dobbs is like polumalu level bad.. no hope for that.. its not like he is Kendrell Bell or anything... that was a dude from day 1 you knew hed be hof bound...

Yeah, a bunch here wanted Peterman. Peterman's QB Rating is 35+ higher than Dobbs'. Peterman entered 1 game with about a minute left in the third and another game with a couple min left in the 2nd. I'd suggest the quality of D he played against was not the same as Dobbs'.

Although, I didn't want Peterman or Dobbs (or any QB at that spot), I'd, at least, want people to be realistic in comparisons and understand what they are talking about rather than looking at one stat (again) and thinking it tells the story. Again, regular season after a few games. Good enough for me. Preseason with so many variables? Plz.

I dont know what yall are upset about. We all should know by now Dobbs is going to be a superstar. Anyone Coach pre maturely writes becomes a good or great player. I myself say thanks.

Like Jarvis Jones, or Golson? For sure they will become good players.

Romo is always hurt and Dak performed well right out of the gate. You must have missed that. You don't have to start to impress as a rookie in the pre-season.

Anyone who watched the senior bowl practices of Games saw Webb was decent and Dobbs too much of a project.

By using the data on 2 pre-season game among QB's, I'm giving an apples to apples as close as I can. Our guy is at the very bottom of the barrel, so to speak.

We have no strategy for Qb if Ben retires after the season. Or rather we had one named Dobbs, and right now that's not looking very good.

Are we talking about Davis Webb who has thrown 16 passes in the preseason (completing a wopping 50%) and was drafted a full round earlier than Dobbs? Should we be comparing Dobbs to Trubinsky, too?

I posted a link of pre season QB ratings. My issue is Dobbs is dead last. Most here I think would take Webb, though Antdrewjosh I suspect is happy with Dobbs.

Happy with him about what he hasnt done anything. He is two preseason games into his career. Hardly enough for me to make some type of judgement. But of course you on the other hand

You must have missed what I said, had Romo not gotten hurt Prescott WOULD HAVE BEEN ON THE PINE. Sometimes coach you are so narrow minded it's bewildering. Heck Stephen Morris had a great preseason last year, similar to Dak. Where is Morris? What about AJ McCarron? Heck Colt MCoy had a decent PRESEASON. Because, well it's PRESEASON.

You have no clue what the FO strategy is regarding life after Ben. You are a bigger idiot to think you do, unless you are mysteriously on the front office payroll.

And nowhere has it been noted that Dobbs is the heir apparent to Ben. He was drafted for the future at the position most likely as the future backup after Landry.

Yeah, but, clearly, it is another state you don't understand. Webb has a 61 rating and has only thrown passes against the Steelers future grocery baggers.

I do appreciate the both of you for keeping this discussion mostly civil.

Though Mods, the thread is officially hijacked and needs moved to the political forum.

They will go and draft higher when the time comes next season or two

Slash and Aggie are pretty objective posters, so I am not surprised this is a civil debate. HOWEVER-

We need to move this thread before those crazies in the "Politics & Religion" forum start to jump in.

aggie and slash ... take it to the religion forum

funny thing is that is the only thing these lazy protesters will ever do

they won't push for police education
they won't push to clean up high crime areas
they won't push to get these drugs off the street

they're the ones who don't vote, hell I bet many of them don't work

they'll be the ones waiting to point a finger at the next media hyped poor me event that surfaces

funny is we live in a country that anyone can achieve anything of any color

and yet there is nothing to fix anything going on

just a bunch of chickenheads flailing around acting like sheep in twatwaffle clothing

pathetic

LOL **** yeah Hooah.

Slash, and Aggie - As some said earlier I appreciate your ability to debate without calling each other names and causing issues. With that said I moved the Kaepernick debate to the Politics side. It's over there with a new title.

Everyone can continue the Dobbs debate now.

Thanks Justin

I scouted him as almost an identical prospect to Dennis Dixon. Nothing has changed my mind this preseason.

I think he's a bit smarter and more mature than Dixon but that's not going to matter much. The talent/ability is about the same.

To me, it's another waste of a mid-round draft choice on a QB. Colbert's track record on this is horrendous. We basically get nothing out of them except 3rd stringers and MAYBE a game or two as a starting backup when people get hurt. And in those games forced to play, they pretty much suck balls. All of them go on to nothing careers or do anything anywhere else either, so it's not just because they are stuck behind Roethlisberger here.

The talent evaluation and what we "value" in the position seems really off. I really don't even get it. I guess I can understand a bit it you reach on a QB talent in the draft because his skill set matches our offense or what Haley/Arians/Cowher liked to do but I can't even make that argument in most cases.

I really think unless it's like a top-10 pick and the quarterback practically falls into our laps like Roethlisberger 2.0, this franchise is REALLY going to struggle at the position. And I'm not sure Martyball (or Cowherball) can really work anymore (or have faith we can build a physically imposing defense again to carry the team).

Dobbs will be three. They wont expose to waivers and never keep less than three qbs. Probably rarley gets a game day dress unless God forbid.
