Report: Giants, Steelers among 5 teams interested in Pryor

Terrelle Pryor*reportedly won't be short of suitors on the open market.

The wide receiver is drawing interest from the*New York Giants,*Pittsburgh Steelers,*San Francisco 49ers,*Tennessee Titans, and*Philadelphia Eagles*ahead of free agency's two-day negotiating period, which starts at noon Tuesday, league sources told*Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com.

Pryor's representatives are*reportedly*still engaged in contract discussions with the*Cleveland Browns, though it appears his soon-to-be former team will have significant competition for his services, as Cabot notes that there's likely more teams interested in Pryor.

The 27-year-old showed superstar potential in his first full season as a receiver, catching 77 passes for 1,006 yards and four touchdowns despite the Browns' poor quarterback situation.

he was here for a bit before going to cleveland. we didnt like what we saw.

that's right. and he was reluctant to change positions.
 
No way they are going to pay for Pryor. An article I read this morning said he will be in the range of $10-12 million. He's going to get No. 1 WR money and we already have AB.

We cant afford him, but in his first year at WR and with a ****** arsenal of QB's throwing to him, the guy was a beast.
 
Tombert is probably interesting in turning him back in a QB to take over after Roethlisberger.... I can just hear the press conference now.
 
I'd take him but not for that price. Pryor could have been a superstar receiver a long time ago if he made the position switch.
 
This time of year is crazy. Every sports site on the internet has their opinion of where FA players are going to go whether there is any truth to it or not.

I just read somewhere this morning that he was nearly a "lock" to be headed to the Rats. I guess whatever gets that click on their page is all that matters.

You and I both, imagine if Tomlin had Korkey for a year or two................

Pryor will be priced out of our range but I believe we don't need him. We have just as good or better in the wings.

Just the fact they are talking with Pryor means the steelers are prepared to spend significant money on a WR. It really is a huge need. Fact is that Martavis has 1 foot out of the league. The Steelers are in Super Bowl mode. They absolutely must have at least 1 WR pther than AB that they can count on.

If the Steelers did sign Pryor or a guy like Brandon Marshall, the question then becomes, do you trade away Martavis Bryant?

This draft has some good WR prospects but none are proven gamebreakers like Martavis. John Ross is blazing fast but he's brittle. Mike Williams is physical but not real fast. Lots of teams would be willing to roll the dice on Martavis. Maybe a team like the Rams, who desparately need playmakers and could use a WR that can ride a roller coaster without an adult. All it takes is 1 team willing to take the risk.

No one would give more than a 3rd for him, and that's being generous. Rather keep him as he still has 2 years left in his rookie contract
 
On a side note with Pryor, I think this points to an issue in college where there are now way too many guys playing QB who should probably be playing WR or RB or DB etc.

These kids all get it in their heads that they absolutely MUST play QB and if any coach suggests they play a different position, they are either stupid, or a subtle racist.

I can't tell you how many times I watch a game where they are raving about the QB of a smaller school an they'll say something like "Can you believe Michigan or Florida State or USC wanted him to play CB? Here he is playing great a East Whatever State. What a great decision he made to stay at QB." Then the draft rolls around and he trying to switch to CB or WR and ends up undrafted.

I get it that QB is the glamour position and generally makes the most money, so kids all want to be the QB, but it's also the toughest position to crack. Teams play 3 or 4 WRs, 6 DBs, multiple RBs.

Pryor is a perfect example. For all his talents, he was never a great QB. Most of his success was with his feet. Both he and Ohio State probably would have been better off with him dominating at WR and somebody else at QB.

I see so many guys playing QB in these spreads and they have no shot at the NFL as a QB, then they try to make a position switch in an NFL training camp. Some are able to do it but usually it's takes years of them being a special teamer and bubble player. Look at how long it took Pryor and he's a rare athlete. Imagine how good he would be if he played WR in college.

That's what could make him attractive to a team willing to take a chance. If a team in need doesn't get the guy they wanted in the draft, then Martavis could be their answer. Look at the Bucs. They really need a #2 to go with Mike Evans. They also have many other needs. Maybe it's rd 4 and the WRs they like are gone.

Now they are looking at another mediocre season, unless they send the Steelers next year's #1 which becomes a 4th rounder if Martavis gets suspended. Now they are looking like potentially one of the top offenses in the NFL and Jameis having his breakout season.

It only takes 1 team to panic or to be the Jets.
 
Pryor was brought in prior to the draft when he came out and specifically asked Tomlin not to draft him ( his words) as he thought it would be distracting and a bad situation being so close to his old running mates and wanted some distance from them...wasn't about a position change.

Marshall a life long Steeler fan made it known he wants to play here. At half the salary for Marshall I'd definitely go with the cheaper option that wants to be here. Marshall in a 2 year 9-10 million deal would be a nice compliment to AB in the waning Ben years. AB, Bryant and Marshall would be a tough matchup for any secondary.

that sounds like a good plan but isn't it more helpful to get a CB with that money? a TE or WR in the draft would be more of a plug & play player than a CB
 
Would rather have Marshall but it would need to be at a discount.
 
You all laughed at me two years ago when the Raiders cut him and I said why not bring him into camp and try him at WR or TE.
