Damn... that's a lot of 3rd round compensatory picks this year. They must have changed the formula a bit.

I mean Seattle got 3rd round picks for Bruce Irvin (16 starts, 7 sacks) and Russell Okung (16 starts). And they had like 7 AV from Football Reference.com.

Brandon Mebane cancels out Bradley Sowell.

I assume we got a 3rd round pick for Kelvin Beachem (15 starts, 7 AV). Blake had 1 start/1 AV, Will Johnson didn't play, McLendon had 10 starts/5 AV, Spence had 6 starts and 4 AV.

We gained Green (2 starts, 3 AV) and Ryan Harris (0 starts, 0 AV).

You'd think if would be more logical for Green and Spence to cancel each other out, then we get a 4th round for Beachum AND a 6th rounder for McClendon. How they summed it all together and got a 3rd round pick seems new.

**** yeah, that is what I am talking about!

We can use the original 3rd to move up if desired.......................

Hell yes! A 3rd rounder should typically end up being a starter. Much better than the 5th most were expecting.

I think a few are already traded. PFT says Cleveland's 3rd round compensatory pick goes to New England as part of the Jamie Collins trade. And Cleveland already traded their 4th round compensatory pick to the Eagles from last year's Wentz deal.

I tried to sort the RB's by height, but nfl draft site doesn't have that capability. lets you sort by school, name grade, etc. Not height. ******* totalitarians.

What about a SN prediction thread for who gets drafted with the comp pick?

Very nice.

4 picks in the top 104. I likey. Shopping list: 1 edge, 1 cb, 1 safety and another target for Ben to throw to.

They must have changed the formula because i don't ever remember there being this many 3rd rounders handed out. It wouldn't surprise me if Goodell oreder it just to make his NFL Draft TV show more compelling. The hell with competitive balance etc.

This is huge for the steelers draft. It gives them the ammo if they want to move up to get a particular player in Rd 1, or it allows them to use a high pick on less of a need position like RB, WR or TE.

My gut reaction is this means the Steelers draft a TE in the first 3 rounds.

Maybe now if OJ Howard falls to the steelers in Rd 1, they can draft him knowing that they can move up in Rd 2 if they want to snag a pass rusher or DB. I wouldn't be loving it if that happened, but i can see that happening if Howard is the BPA at that point. I would prefer they use that extra pick to get a stud pass rusher.

Tomlin will **** this up says 1/2 of Steeler Nation.
