He was just on the fan from the super bowl. Says he hurt his groin in the Miami game, he was hoping it would do away, so he didn't tell anyone during the week leading up to KC, and he may need surgery, seeing his 2nd or 3rd specialist.
Tiki Barber is on there now and says that's a worrisome injury if he needs surgery, and thinks he was over used.

Duh... well how many stud backs do we lose before our coaching staff grasps that every play is a potential injury so dont overuse stars when you dont have too

Bud Dupree came back perfectly fine from his groin injury. Bell has seen two doctors. One says he needs surgery and one who doesn't. He will be seeking a third opinion.

I think Bell will be fine, Barber just said Bells running style is very hard on those muscles.

It would be the only reason. Steelers finish 7-9 without him.

I feel Bell is the Steelers biggest asset/playmaker on that offense. The offense sputtered against the pats after he went down. He just brings a different dynamic to the game

If you had to play a game with Ben and no Bell, or with Bell and no Ben which do you pick?

No coincidence that we started relying on LB after about week 8 or so. We lost Sammy and DHB to injury.
Basically had AB and Eli to throw too.
This will be fixed in the draft and return of MB.

If he needs surgery, I'd be surprised if he gets a big contract. They will probably franchise him for a year and see how things go just like they did with not signing him last offseason.

Bell's comment may cost the steelers a draft pick. Based on his comments, the steelers knew he was injured and he wasn't on injured report vs Pats. They just took a pick fromSeattle for the same thing with Sherman.

That's on Tomlin is they lose a pick.

I guess that would depend upon who you are replacing them with, right? If you are replacing Ben with Landry, then I choose option 1. If you are replacing Ben with someone more competent than Landry, I'd not care a whole lot, I don't think. Hard to say since our back ups have been, well, career back-up caliber (or worse) for so very many years.

I took it that he didn't even tell the Steelers.

I took it that he didn't tell them prior to the KC game, so they'd be in the clear for him not being on the report for that game, but it sure seems the steelers knew for the Pats game and Bell missed practices. Was that because he left to be a daddy, or was he nursing an injury?

NFL will investigate and if the deflate gate proved anything, it's that lying gets a bigger punishment.

You replace him with the back ups we have, anyone that thinks Bell is more important to this team than Ben is insane.

Probably Ben and no Bell. DeAngelo could hold up when he's not rusty. Although Landry, if he plays smart and has Bell, well...hard to choose

I believe Bell and the team. I doubt anyone thought he was hurt when he just set franchise playoff game rushing records in two consecutive weeks previously.

Sorry but a normal offense where the OLine makes a hole and the back hits it is fine. Even better if the back has breakaway speed, as in can take it to the house. Bell is a bit gimicky and injury prone, hasn't moved the needle in the passing game at all, and does not have breakaway speed. You go with a great QB over Bell all day.

You realize that Seattle lost a draft pick after repeated instances of failure to report an injury right? I believe the first one or two times they got caught they were fined and the last time cost them the draft pick.

They said it would have been a late pick but the repeat offense made it a 3rd i believe. I doubt the steelers would get hit that hard unless the NFL thinkks the whole Bell going to see his baby thing was some kind of cover up. I can see it being a 7th rounder.

You also have to consider that the steelers are hoping for Martavis back so they may be more willing to go along with a punishment to curry favor for Martavis.
