Brown not pouting on D Will touchdown

It was supposedly on the sideline, and one of the guys that covers the team and was at the game brought this up before the NFL Network guy did, and when Ben got as asked if he had to settle Brown down after that td, Ben said, "umm I don't remember"

You saw Tibs' pictures , right? I don't get why you're so easy to condemn any player on this roster but our QB? It's ridiculous. Ben is a Hell of a player, but to go all out nuts whenever someone questions anything he does like you do, only to believe everything you read from whatever bullshit source about everyone else is puzzling? I'm a Steelers fan first and foremost, any player I'm fond of moves on I wish them well, but my allegiances are with the team. They all piss me off once in a while, but all the tabloid **** is for kids.

**** calm down, all I said was in Pittsburgh the guy that covers them said it happened after they were on the sideline not on the field, that's why I said "I WASNT THERE" I guess Ben is lying about it to, did you hear his comments in it today?

I tend to think where's smoke there's fire. Again, the specific claim that something happened on this play is clearly inaccurate. But it does seem Ben and Tomlin have grown frustrated with AB. Not sure I've ever seen Tomlin as pissed off as when he called AB out last week over the stupid FB thing. Ben's comments also point to something being amiss.

Getting back to the NFL Network reporter, I think it's significant she stated she was 'sitting next to Hines Ward' throughout the game. Perhaps he was pointing things out to her that he was seeing on the field or on the sideline that may not have been picked up by the cameras. He also may have been giving her info that he had from within the organization. When she filed her report, she may have gotten overly excited and inaccurately reported something happening on DWill's TD. That's my educated guess at this point.

When did the media make the decision that they were going to just blatantly make **** up? Tired of all the non-stories becoming stories. Give me the news, facts, not bullshit talking heads.

Again if you can find Bens interview from 93.7 the fan today, listen to it and what he said when asked about him having to talk to Brown. Something obviously happened

you don't get rid of one of the best receivers in the game...especially over a bullshit story

I agree. but I just cant imagine paying a wide receiver 15 million per year. I personally would try and trade him for a couple of 1st rd draft picks. Then spend them on defense. In my opinion We will not win another lowB repuS until we have a dominating in your face defense again.

He'll also be 29 at the start of next season, it's tough giving him a huge multi year deal.

those photos show it didn't happen on that play. I'm wondering if it was a different play. It just seems odd that 2 sources would report the same incident and then Ben would tip toe around it if it was totally made up.

Yeah that Tomlin real pissed and fined him a whole 10k. Probably kissed his *** too.

Clearly something wrong with this report. I watched the plays when the Steelers were near the end zone and didn't see any pouting--and Brown makes it very clear when he's unhappy.

On top of this, PFT added some commentary that caught some fire. No report, just opinion as usual from them.

Cut him some slack. At that point I'm sure he knew his Facebook numbers were going to be down.

Thanks for those pics btw Tibs. Just adds further proof someone is trying to dismantle the Steelers organization

If AB was pissed off, maybe it was just about not getting flags for being held.

What would be an appropriate fine? Serious question. I've seen a couple say this exact same thing too. You're not going to fine him $500k. That's what the cheaters paid when they got caught cheating, and this wasn't that egregious. I mean, really the only thing would have been to suspend him a game, and considering the enormity of this game, there's absolutely no reason to punish the rest of the team for that. Sean Davis was fined $24k for a head-to-head shot. Was Browns video worse than that? Not to mention that I'm sure there's implications from the NFLPA on how teams go about organizations fining their players.

I would fine him what he made from Facebook plus 10k

Fake news....

Tibs, I tell you all the time CNN, FOX, ABC, NBC, CBS..... just like ESPN. Just because they call themselves the "world wide leader in sports" doesn't mean their **** doesn't stink....

Good job calling out their bullshit.

He may have been pouting about not getting many balls overall. They covered him pretty good most the game but AB ALWAYS thinks he is open.

Antonio Brown report had an error, Steelers don’t deny he was pouting

NFL Network’s report on Steelers receiver Antonio Brown being overly concerned with his own stats had a fairly significant error, and yet the response to the report from Steelers coach Mike Tomlin and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger suggests that the report was largely correct.

The error was in claiming that Brown was upset because he was “wide open” on the play when the Steelers scored their first touchdown and didn’t get the ball thrown his way. Brown wasn’t “wide open” at all; it was a running play and Brown was blocking Patriots cornerback Malcolm Butler. And yet NFL Network reporter Aditi Kinkhabwala twice used that play as the basis for her larger report that Brown is too focused on his own stats.

“When DeAngelo Williams scored the Steelers’ first touchdown, Antonio Brown was open in the back of the end zone,” Kinkhabwala said in one report. “He hung his head after that touchdown. He was the last player to walk off the field.”

“DeAngelo Williams scores the Steelers’ first touchdown, Antonio Brown was wide open in the back of the end zone, and he pouted,” Kinkhabwala said in another report. “He pouted. His team just scored a touchdown and he was upset that he was wide open and Roethlisberger didn’t go to him. . . . He was the last player off the field.”

But that simply isn’t what happened. Brown was blocking on the running play when Williams scored the Steelers’ first touchdown. And Brown hadn’t been “wide open” on the pass play prior to that, either: Roethlisberger had first looked to Brown in the end zone before checking down because Brown wasn’t open. In fact, on the replay CBS showed immediately before Williams’ touchdown, commentator Phil Simms specifically pointed out that Brown wasn’t getting open because the Patriots were double-teaming him.

“Any time you get inside the 20 they’re going to double-team your best players. You see Malcolm Butler, there’s the safety over the top, Devin McCourty,” Simms said of the Patriots covering Brown.

The TV feed doesn’t provide a good enough look at Brown’s face to see whether or not he was “pouting,” but he certainly didn’t look unhappy when Williams scored. He put his arms up as soon as Williams stuck the ball over the goal line. He then proceeded to go into the end zone where his teammates were celebrating.

Was Brown the last one off the field? A shot of the Steelers’ sideline before the extra point showed Brown and Roethlisberger both reaching the sideline at about the same time, in the area where Tomlin was standing. There was no indication that any of them exchanged words. (Not to mention that some of the Steelers who were on the field for the touchdown stayed on the field for the extra point, so Brown was obviously off the field before those players.)

But the part about Brown being “wide open” and being the last off the field isn’t the most important part of the NFL Network report. The truly significant part — the part we focused on when we first mentioned it on Tuesday — is that the Steelers have a concern that Brown is too focused on his own stats. And that more important part of the report is the part where the Steelers’ response was interesting.

When Tomlin was asked about it on Tuesday, he easily could have dismissed the report and pointed out the inaccuracy in Brown being “wide open.” Instead, Tomlin said he didn’t see pouting but then switched focus to say he’s going to continue to challenge Brown.

And when Roethlisberger was asked about it on his radio show on Tuesday, he seemed to indirectly confirm that Brown was pouting: Roethlisberger said he thinks Brown is such a great player that his play overshadows “extra stuff” he does, and Roethlisberger specifically mentioned pouting as part of that “extra stuff.”

“He’s one of the best in the business, and the plays that he makes and has made over his career are so special,” Roethlisberger said of Brown. “I think sometimes that overshadows the extra stuff: the hands up, the arms up, the frustrations, the pouting, the things like that.”

Between Tomlin and Roethlisberger’s reactions to the report and Tomlin’s use of the word “selfish” to describe Brown last week after his Facebook Live fiasco, there seems to be a lot of truth to the idea that the Steelers aren’t exactly thrilled with the attitude of their star receiver. That shouldn’t get lost in the inaccurate description of one particular play.

the reporter obviously got her plays mixed up. Brown was wide open in the end zone on one play that I recall.

The NFL Network report is total bs, but something happened, a Pittsburgh reporter that covers the team said about Brown on the sideline before the NFL Network story broke, and Ben said on his is show.
I know it's a no no to say anything negative towards Brown, but something did happen and this isn't the first time.
Last year Heath Miller basically had to tell him to shut the **** up about not getting the ball enough, after a win even. Then late in 13 or 14, Ben had to tell him to quit bitching about not getting the ball enough, again after a win.

We buried Ocho Cinco on this very board for doing the same thing with Cincy in 2006 after a Cincy win.

That's why I'd take Ward any day over Brown.
