No thank you. Smacks of "participation medals" and trying to make everything "fair" or "equal" for everyone. The thing is, if other schools want to get those top tier recruits, they should improve their programs, hire a better coach, etc. This approach seems to have worked wonders for PSU.

No its exactly the opposite. Only the best of the best would get to go to Alabama. They would get their quota of five star recruits. Theoretically, all of theirs would be near the top off that recruiting class. However, they wouldn't have virtually all of their recruiting class five star. It's a ****** joke. Their seconds and thirds are as good or better than most schools firsts. That isn't sport anymore. And when outcomes are virtually pre determined I tune out.
 
Last 3 games, Penn State has outscored opponents 79-3 in second half.

It's not that hard to figure out.

Ohio State has only one loss, on the road to an eventual conference champion (a team who will finish no lower than #6 in the country). Alabama is a given. Clemson and Washington are conference champions with one loss. PSU has two losses. Michigan has two losses. Had Penn State beaten Pitt, they'd have one loss and be in. They didn't beat Pitt. End of story.
 
No way Ohio State should go in over Penn State.

Pretty easy when that team's overall resume is better than the conference Champion's. tOSU's only loss on the season was to the conference champ. That's on their resume. PSU has TWO losses and one of them was to Pitt ... I keep hearing y'all talking about the loss to that team up north, but nobody wants to talk about that 2 ton elephant in the room that is the Pitt loss. TWO losses, not one. That's on their resume.

I agree they have won 9 in a row with 2 wins over top 10 teams with one being OSU. They won arguably the hardest conference this year. It would be like the SEC champ not getting in a couple years ago. Also and most importantly they beat tOSU head to head.
I do not get the love for tOSU. I think their offense is way too inconsistent. The couple games i watched them play against decent teams i was not very impressed.

I think everyone has clearly talked about that loss and the Michigan loss that half of the PSU defense being on the sideline for those games. They also talk about when those players returned, they beat Ohio State.

By that logic, Western Michigan should before anyone besides Alabama.

Get a grip. Pretty hard for OSU to argue that they are better than their conference champion who beat them.

In their biggest ooc tests, PSU lost to Pitt in Pittsburgh. OSU crushed Oklahoma in Norman. If Penn St. had one loss, there would be no argument. Pitt kept them out. Man, if Pitt had even an average defense, they'd likely be in the playoff.

He has also been linked to the Baylor job, but I believe some journalist in Indiana somewhere tweeted that the Purdue deal is "doneish". Of course he, meaning Jeff Brohm, is denying it.
 
To make it simple here we go. As of last week The Big Ten has the #2 team, the #5 team, the #6 team, and the #7 team. PSU won the conference. If you remove "Big Ten" and replace it with "SEC" would there be any argument about putting the conference winner in the playoff. The answer is no. I just dont see how the committee can leave PSU out.

Haha, I was just going to post this exact same thing. If Alabama had 2 losses and just won the SEC Championship. everybody would be saying they are in, because the SEC is a tougher Conference.

So an undefeated conference champion should be excluded because their conference is soft, but the champion of the toughest conference should be excluded because they have one more loss than a non-conference champion?

That's picking and choosing rationales team by team.

To be consistent, you either have to say Western Michigan or Penn State belong in the playoff. You cannot argue neither one does.

Oh, so we're talking about EXCUSES? Because I didn't make any for tOSU's loss to PSU. Well then, feel free to "excuse away" the loss to Pitt. lmao

We didn't have to make the argument ... the committee made it for us. Now, let's not forget that the PSU loss was AT Happy Valley and it wasn't a blowout loss. Needless to say, I agree with the committee's choice to place tOSU above PSU.

Now, let the whining begin.
 
This is why only taking 4 is stupid. Nothing has changed. Still isn't settled on the field like it should be.
 
As the chairman said, in one loss PSU wasn't competitive (UM) and the other loss was to an 8-4 team (Pitt). They made their resume, and have to live with it. By comparison, tOSU lost a competitive game, on the road, to the eventual conference champion. The chairman did say, had PSU not lost one of those games, it wouldn't have been a close decision. (Between PSU and Washington. tOSU would have still been in) So, that Pitt game that some of y'all wanted to excuse away ... well, the committee didn't feel that way.
 
All that said, they're interviewing Franklin right now. He was very classy in his disappointment.
