1 ) They can really rush the passer.

2 ) They have multiple DB's who can make plays on the ball.

For the Steelers to take the next step, they must quickly fix the defense. I think trading Wheaton, and picking a CB, S, and pass rusher in a BPA format is the thing to do.

... without blitzing, using four pass rushers.

A good 3-4 can pick which OLB to rush, making the 4 man rush harder to block

Our OLB's just aren't getting the job done as pass rushers.

Right, I was just saying once a team commits more than four, they start to compromise their coverage, especially in today's NFL.

Denver got push rushing 3 at times yesterday...Tommy boy was in full panic mode...

Did I hear the announcer say that Denver ( or was it Carolina, it's a little blurry ) had 6 pass rushers that could win one on one blocking ?

What do we have ?

Ah...that would be none ? one or two maybe ?

Makes you pretty darn proud of our offensive line though, doesn't it?

He said that about Denver's D. Not sure after their injuries, though. If they lose any starters, that could cost them against the Panthers.

Well Denver's D has the secondary to cover man to man and blitz if they want to, and they have the front 4 to get pressure with just 4 and cover with 7, so they can pretty much do what they want, but vs us we can push the ball downfield with our WR's and that is what gives them trouble. I don't see Carolina with WR's that scare them, they just need to spy Cam.

I have to give Denver D credit for getting after Brady like that. Not sure we could have done that. Carolina is a different animal. I've watched their games. Big fast and physical. They will open it up and smash you down.

^^^NAILS IT.

Outside of Olsen, Carolina doesn't have a good group of receivers, but they do have a good OL.

I have watched Carolina a few times too. They play with tremendous confidence, but they have also won a lot of games by less than 4 points!

Sun, Sep 27 vs Saints W 22 - 27 Final
October 18 at Seattle Seahawks W 27–23
November 2 Indianapolis Colts W 29–26 (OT)
December 6 at New Orleans Saints W 41–38
December 20 at New York Giants W 38–35

Denver can win this game with a Bill Parcells control the TOP, win the special teams battle, and NO Turnovers type of game.

Peyton Manning these days is a game manager, and that's a good thing for Denver.

The smart owners got rid of Fox even though he won some playoff games?

This should be fun, then. I think the Panthers are going to overwhelm the Broncos. Let's see who's right in a couple weeks.

Carolina has scored over 30 pts in 8 of their last 9 games and the one was a rest game before the playoffs.

I think Carolina wins it too. I think it will be a defensive battle the 1st quarter at best. After that. Its going to look like the SB denver was in a couple years ago

They score more points than the other team

They have a lead when the game is over...

I know Carolina's receivers aren't big name guys, but they have guys that can get deep. Ben is the ONLY QB who did well against them this year because our line protects, their secondary is vulnerable down the field, and Ben can hit them. I think Cam will look very impressive against them because he'll get time and guys like Ginn and Brown will find space in the deep parts of the secondary

I've seen him discussed in other threads, but if Noah Spence is there in the first round, do you add another first-round edge defender, especially one with some baggage?

I think Carolina will win. If I were setting the line it would be Carolina as a 7 point favorite. Maybe more.

Manning is a game manager now and might have big time problems vs a better secondary. Lately Denver's best weapon is their defense and their kicker.

Denver if they are to win needs to play mistake free and win the top battle.

AB burned the Denver defense for 16 and 189, so not sure how good there pass rush and DB's are.
We likely win the playoff game if AB plays.

It was good enough to hold Brady to his worst or 2nd worst QB rating in a playoff game. Can Newton get to the 2nd or 3rd reads quickly like Ben did. Carolina has a better Oline than NE did so that really helps, but can Newton get through his reads fast enough before the pressure gets there.

The Steelers have a more wide open passing attack with just about all WR's able to take the top off a D. New England does not have that. They rely on short to intermediate passes. Denver matched up well with them by disrupting their timing a lot. We were able to get by them with our speed. The Panthers don't have great WR's but Ginn does have speed. He just drops the ball a lot. Denver will probably keep someone in to mirror Cam so he doesn't run as much. That is assuming Denver's D is all there after the injuries they had in New England. If Denver's D is not all playing, they will have a tough time stopping the Panthers.

Denver has great bookend rushers, but will they be able to KEEP Cam in the pocket?

It is tough to Mirror Cam with an ILB, when they also have Olsen and Stewart coming out of the backfield. This is a panther's advantage if Denver chooses to waste a player as a 'Spy-Cam'.
