Why not? Isn't that where the game is won or lost
You seem more built to debate than to answer a simplistic question..
BTW great coaching is what puts talent in the position to win when it matters.
Why not? Isn't that where the game is won or lost
Difference is Tomlin has a franchise QB and the expectations are high.
I am not one to compare the two, as I look at what they are doing and which way they are trending.
In Cowher's last year I was calling for him to leave as something wasn't right about him.
Fast forward to now I see Tomlin trending in the wrong direction.
I think he has regressed as a decision making coach, and I feel it is time for him to leave.
Year after year he has cemented that feeling for me....As they continue to under-perform as a team.
I am not sure many would say otherwise...
So what was subpar about the play call that caused heath to miss his block?
I can see your point and it is valid. If that's somebodies argument as to why they believe he should go than so be it. But, it's like Cowher never had any faults which there were plenty.
The thing about our franchise is that the Rooney's aren't trying to turn themselves into a must get it right coaching turnstyle in Pittsburgh. Everybody has their faults or needs improvement. I just don't see them sending Tomlin away when they endured back to back losing seasons and 3 straight yrs of no playoffs with Cowher. Its just not them. So, I rather channel efforts and pressure onto the players to get it together. If, they are capable to endure 4 kickers and 3 starting QB's, in one season, I believe they owe themselves to not lay an egg against inferior opponents.
It's amazing that with your three jobs you have so much time to defend your steeler welfare soulmate. It's not Tomli s fault that he will be the first coach since before chuck to go 5 yrs without a playoff win. That not his fault. It's also not his fault the steelers that they missed the playoffs3/4 the last 4 yrs. you're a firm believer people should just keep getting that check right buddy
yeah Cowher had his faults. Sure they all do. But they seemed here and there. Not repetitious year in and year out. Bill's personal life led to his passion fading.
If Tomlin would fix his reoccurring issues I would be ok with him staying, they seemingly aren't trending in that direction.
The Rats game could arguably be considered his worst loss as a coach.
He seems unwilling to change and that is worry-some,
Once again I loved Bill Cowher but seriously???
we were debating without getting personal let's keep it that way
What did I say that you disagreed with?
That Cowher issues were here and there
Ok beside his last year where he was disinterested what was his glaring weaknesses?
Secondary, QB, conservative
He did ok at QB than what he had to work with IMO, they weren't exactly world beaters.
I remember secondary issues but I don't remember them being on the suck level as they were this year. (But I have no real counter debate in this area so I will give you that)
His conservative play when ahead garnished a pretty impressive win loss or not?
In that statement lies my contention with the whole Tomlin debate. He is responsible for the state of his secondary while in your words Cowher did ok with what he had to work with. Do you not see the contradiction.
I remember the secondary being a major issue of discontent culminating in the first two games of 2002 when the Patiots and Raiders spread us and refuse to run and everybody followed suit.
It means they aren't good enough. Coaches and players. But to me that's not enough to step from the Rooney way of doing things. Thru the up and downs we keep the course
that part of your sentence I call bullshit..It means they aren't good enough. Coaches and players. But to me that's not enough to step from the Rooney way of doing things. Thru the up and downs we keep the course
We keep the course
If the course is sitting at home on the sofa watching teams other than the Steelers play in the playoffs
yeah we are keeping that course..
I prefer another.
It's the course we kept in 98-00 it's the course we kept after 03. What's different now..We hadn't even won a super Bowl under Cowher yet and we didn't panic. So what's the difference now.
Because that's the issue to me. What's so different for the Rooneys to deviate from the plan they set.
