PITTSBURGH -- This Christmas season, with the playoffs nearly secured and a magma-hot offense taking hold, the Pittsburgh Steelers are doing their best to deflect any attention beyond preparation for the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.
Mike Tomlin's holiday cheer comes in the form of locker room pep talks about focus and attention to detail.
How have the Steelers kept winning despite injuries at several positions? Partly because coaches remind players incessantly to stay ready.

"Coach Tomlin has brainwashed us," said guard Ramon Foster with a laugh. "That's about as good as I can explain it. Every game we go into, we feel like we can win it."
He means that in the best possible way.
Playing with that theme, here are a few stocking stuffers that Tomlin would give out to his team, if he felt so inclined ...
*Don't Blink slippers: Throughout Sunday's 34-27 win over Denver, Tomlin, who was mic'd up for the NFL's weekly 'Sound FX' segments, repeatedly told his defensive players 'don't blink.'
"If you blink, I'll cut your eyelids off," Tomlin told safety Mike Mitchell from the sideline as the Steelers were down 27-10.
Perhaps Tomlin could give out free eye exams, but players don't have time for that with holidays and the weekly grind.
*Fear-resistant winter jackets: Don't live in your fears. Tomlin says it all the time. So Tomlin can give out fun letterman jackets with DLIYF stitched into the side.
*Handheld fans, to stay cool: Tomlin told Ryan Shazier from the sidelines Sunday to stay 'cool as a fan" and keep communicating with defensive teammates. Later, Shazier dropped into zone coverage and jumped a Brock Osweiler pass for a crucial interception. Shazier probably secures the pick regardless of the Tomlin pep talk, but it makes for a good story when the comment came beforehand.
*Next man up scarves: Steelers players literally hear these three words all day. Why not emblazon the phrase on a delightful black-and-gold scarf.
*Socks with coaching tips on them: Foster has noticed that Tomlin will provide coaching pointers to players regardless of position. Tomlin has told offensive lineman to drag their feet a certain way, or cornerbacks how to close on a play with their feet, not with their hands.
Many of those tips are about footwork, so a good pair of snug footwear is in order.
