Wrap your head around this...

At halftime (if I remember correctly) Cowher said that the Broncos would need 35 point to win...............

we had 34

:new_shocked:

Hah. I was just thinking about that.

Way to go coach.... We never stopped them on third down in the first half.....I thought we were in trouble.

Amazing that we still covered the spread after that dumpster fire of a first half!

glad we did...put some bills in my pocket...took Cin and GB, also...

Doyled those 3 with sea....was a nice afternoon

He said 35 or 38 points. As usual he's a winner

I can only hope that the 2nd half style of D is what we play going forward but Tomlin's so stubborn about his Cover-2 D, it'll probably only be something he deploys on an as-needed basis. Hope I'm wrong....need for him to stay with what works in order for us to have a true run this year.

I'll just hope that they use whatever's working that game. Whether it's Cover 2, Man, Man/Zone ... Whatever works. Because what worked against Denver may not work against another team.

Just the same Denver easily has the best cover corners and pass rush combined. If yinz can do it against them (30 +). they are capable against anyone.

Sure you have to mix it up...... but the formula for winning going forward was written in the second half......

I think it's our Cover 3 that gets us killed more often than Cover 2, because our CB's are usually 8 yds or more from the line of scrimmage which identifies more for a Cover 3 look, while a Cover 2 is usually 5 yds from the LOS or in press, the former was more of the first half look while the latter was more of the second half look. So it's possible they were actually in Cover 2 and Man coverage more in the second half, but I'd have to go back and watch the game to make sure so you could still be right about Cover 2 in the first half..

You're absolutely correct - we were getting torched whilst in Cover-3 the entire first half. IIRC, we never ran a Cover-2 in the first half.

I don't care what scheme they run as long as there is more Golden,Cockrell, Boykin and less Blake.

Thanks for letting me know, I didn't want to act absolutely sure there wasn't any Cover 2 in the first half, because I could've easily missed it at some point, but I remembered Cover 3 for sure in the first.

I can't wrap my head around this....Why isn't Boykin starting? He played pretty lights out yesterday when in. Blake sucked ***.

Jarvis seemed to be riding a lot of pine yesterday too. If Blake starts again that is simply ridiculous.

Boykin is a close 2nd to Gay and needs more time on the field, Allen looks to be I being outplayed by Golden from what I've seen as well, although neither is stinking up the field anything like Blake.

Do you really know how often the Steelers are in cover 2 or is that just something you've heard associated with Tomlin so it must be bad?

Yep the Steelers are still playing a lot of cover 3 also. But let's not let facts get in the way

It was a mixed bag from what I could tell - they played cover 3 and some cover 2, man to man and zone in the first half with a lot of playing off the receiver. They played more press-coverage in the 2nd half and kept Blake on the sideline for the most part, slid Gay to the outside and gave Boykin slot duties. This is what I hope to see to START the game going forward.

Interesting - the formula won't work for every team every week...
