Dale lolley tweeted.........i would not be at all surprised if the steelers brought ziggy hood in for a workout........cut from ir today by jags after passing physical ( foot ).....

Hood was an average DE, but he has the build and looked good in the few snaps he got at NT, not that we would admit we were wrong and not force him in at DE regardless

It was a shame he didn't pan out for us. They spent a first round pick for him and he just never lived up to it.

From all the reports I heard it seemed like he put the work in and had a hard work ethic & he just couldn't bring that to the field on game day.

Speaking of first round picks it blows me away that they are basically getting zero production right now from their last two first round picks.

Bring him in on a as need basis if we have injury. risk not signing him until needed. UNLESS he shows in his work out, he can be a NT.

Dunno, are we thinking he would be more effective in our new "DE attack" scheme, vs LeBeau's "DE eat up blockers" scheme?

I got to admit that when I saw it. He was a much better penetrating DL than space eater. Cut by Jax sounds bad, but lets not forget what is behind Tuitt and Heyward

I have to agree. I think he would be a much better fit in a 1-gap 3-4 DE role (rather than the 2-gap version).

I'd give it a run. He's already been paid.

Our scheme changed

he might be a serviceable backup

with Tuitt hobbled why not?

Yinz can cut that sham not so wow kid to make room..........

He'd be an upgrade over Cam Thomas. Ziggy did always at least keep himself in shape. I don't really think his work ethic was ever questioned. At the time he just wasn't the best fit. In Butler's scheme he may be a better fit. Plus he knows the organization and the area, so the transition should be fairly easy. Sounds like a great move to me if he's truly healthy.

But can he play guitar? Can he jam with Weird and Gilly, and the spiders from Mars?

He can jump from under water, up high and far
....of coarse silly man, he can play guitar....

does this mean Tuitt is looking to not play this week or does it mean the coaches finally realize Cam Thomas really really sucks

I would release Walton, sign him to the PS and then re-sign Hood. He may be much better suited to our Wade Philips-esque One gap scheme for the DE's than our older Lebeau scheme where he occupied blockers. When Thomas leaves after this year we can re-sign Ziggy to be the backup. I would actually welcome the signing.

Someone posted elsewhere that they prefer Keisel to Ziggy.

Thoughts?

I don't think Keisel will even enter their minds. They consider him retired (for real) and light years away from football shape.

I would bring Ziggy in to kick the tires. At least do your due diligence and get a sense for what kind of shape he is in. But probably no need to sign him right now assuming Tuitt's knee isn't more than a one week issue.

Considering how bad our depth is at DE, Ziggy may make a lot of sense, this year, and going forward. Release Walton to PS.

2016: Do not re-sign Cam Thomas after the year. Resign Ziggy, promote Walton to team.

Would rather have Ziggy than Cam Thomas

I would only bring him in if it means we cut Cam Thomas.

if Tuitt is hurt you'd need both Ziggy and Thomas. Cut Dri

I'd be in favor of bringing Ziggy back to the Steelers. Why not? He's better than that tub a **** Thomas.

I never quite understood the hate for him. He had some decent pass rush moves and would get penetration. Consistency against the run was not great but Cam is much worse. I guess it was a matter of high expectations based on his draft position.
