+2 TO, 5 sacks, plenty of QB hits! The sad part was our rush defense, which I think has to do with the lack of capable personnel. I like the consistency in nickel back and corner blitzes.

I've very impressed with Keith Butler. He talked about what he was going to do and he's backing it up unlike our HC. I think the defense looked pretty damn good minus the rushing yards given up. I think Shazier and McCullers would have helped a good amount on that aspect. Cockrell made some plays and Mike Mitchell is looking better in this defense. Pass rush looked real nice and Flacco look confused at times... I guess he wasn't seeing those old Lebeau cross blitzes up the middle.

Defense is stepping up. Complaints with them is Mitchell mouthing off, Blake needs to be a backup. Boykin please see the field! However overall the unit is starting to click. I'm impressed with the defense

Man do we need a stud NT to solidify this run defense. Don't know if Bug Dan is that man but do know McClendon is not. Also, why is Cam Thomas on this football team. Flat out stinks!

Cam Thomas is horrible! I like McCullers. But he is starting to look more like a productive backup. McClendon would make a good DE in my opinion

Much better but got eaten alive on runs right up the gut. We are in desperate need of a good NT

We played a team with no offensive weapons and were gouged in the running game and gave up the last 16 points of the game to WRs no one knows. Good QBs will torch this defense like Brady did.

Maybe so but I think they're doing a good job of getting pressure on the QB and coming up with turnovers. This league is all about offense. Almost every defense gets torched anymore including the Seahawks, torched by the team we allowed only 6pts to in a win last week. I know you're upset but give credit.

4 sacks, the fifth was a fumbled snap. Flaccid had a TON of time to pass most of the time and his backup WRs could not get open. Better QBs and WRs will light this scrappy secondary up. Everyone is high on Cockrell but he is a great zone corner and a terrible man cover which is why Ryan cut him. He was exposed on the TD pass and his lack of speed was obvious on the easy pick 6 when a lineman ran him down. Boykin is better

Remember the INT Cockrell had and the fumble recovery with a great play to keep his feet in bounds? Guess you didn't see those plays. What are the Steeler's practices like anyhow? Boykin looks good in those practices does he?.. just wondering how you know Boykin is better?

Just watched a segment on NFL Network, on the Cockrell not their WR Brown was WIDE open deep for an easy TD, Flacco forced the ball and it was intercepted, easy read and catch and pitch but bad decision makes defense look better than they are, kinda like the wide open TD drop by Rams.

Watch other NFL games and you'll see the same plays happening for other teams, it's a part of the game. Kind of like the dropped TD by AB tonight and the missed opportunities because of inaccurate throws.

Defense is getting better in spots. They got gouged on the run, but they were also on the field a long *** time last night due to an offense that went 2 for 13 on 3rd downs and 0 for 2 on 4ths. They need Shazier back and Heyward and somebody in the middle to play better. Some day, I also hope they get a play maker in the secondary. And they also need to realize that Jar Jar is ******* useless.

When is Dan McCullars going to be back?

A definite bright spot. This young defense is much better than I think we all thought they were going to be. Still don't see Jarvis doing what he was drafted to do. We could use McCullers size in the middle in short yardage situations and Shazier coming back from grey sweatsuit land will help a lot too. Just have to finish these games out.

There you go...bravo....**** all this positivity **** right ?...we lost so we aint gots no time for any bright side, turn the page nonsense. Losses should be followed up with all negativity and despair posts. Team sucks (except Ben), coaches suck, owners suck, fans suck, stadium canary gold seats suck, field sucks, Rooneys suck, trainers, scouts, Breast cancer awareness Pink.....**** life man. Lets drown in sorrow the day after, whine incessantly and the following week, we can do it all again. This is the life......*sniffs #wipingtearsaway

looked to me like our best front LBers were Durpee, Spence, Timdong and Deebo (with Spence coming off the edge?!!?) and Deebo in the center.

The pass rush has improved, but the front seven seems too dependent on quickness to beat blocks, which can create issues against the run, as well as against the pass. Deebo is really the only regular Steelers DL or LB who can consistently win with strength and leverage.

Heyward, Tuitt, and McClendon can all be disruptive to various extents, but none of them are that Casey Hampton/Aaron Smith type block-absorbing anchor that they need up front, especially if they're going to continue utilizing these faster, but weaker LBs.

None of the Steelers DL require constant double teams. Opponents can pretty much pick and choose whom they want to double on a given play. None of them dictate or limit blocking schemes.

They remind of the bungles defense a few years ago. They have to blitz to get pressure and try to trick the offense. They rely on sacks and ints to stop the offense. IF they don't get them then they are in trouble. They struggle with tackling and almost seem like a gimmick defense.

I agree..also, I thought Moats made some nice plays.

We are the ONLY teams to play 4 games silly.

Yeah true, but its looking very promising. Once Shazier's back the numbers are going to just keep going up. Its still a very good sight to see.

Whatever works. With a healthy Ben, this offense doesn't need a shut down defense. Just a couple turnovers and some key stops is always it needs.

The same health Ben that scored 14 points against the pats****** defense before the garbage 2 seconds left TD? The same healthy Ben that scored 9 against the Rams? Ben and this offense aren't the pats****. They aren't going to score 30+ a game even when Ben is healthy. They better find a defense or they won't win anything. They'll either miss the playoffs or be one and done.

Well they held the Rams to 6pts, the same rams who put up 34 on the Seahawks.. works both ways here. The defense did more than enough to win last night's game with barely any offense. I think the defense has played well enough to win all the games except for the Pat's game.

Most impressive to me was the play of our bookend DE's. I'm lazy to do the research, but I'd bet it's been quite a while since we had two DE's come out of a game with this type of impact:

Heyward 7 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble
Tuitt 10 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 1 sack

Now if we could only plug the middle and shore up that run D, we'd be in business.

So now you think they need defense? I thought they didn't need a shutdown defense?

The Rams and Seachickens are in the same division. Like the Steelers and rats. They play each other twice a year and know each other well. I'm not surprised the Rams played them well... are you?
