Ben sprained MCL out 4 weeks

I don't remember the numbers but Ben has never done well after returning from an injury. It usually takes him the 2nd game to get back to normal.

This game was exactly what I thought it would be HOWEVER, I am not the HC nor the OC. How is it that a fan knew that we would have the deep ball taken away and that we would be under constant pressure from this DL but the HC and OC did not? Did they feel confident in the abilities of an offensive display put up against SF that they could just do it again? If we take away the long passes against SF we don't score nearly as often. Ben is ALWAYS going to try to hold the ball to get something deep down the field...regardless BUT it should have been up to the OC to give him some outlets designed in case he came under pressure.

I was a fan of the 2 back set going into this game. We hardly used it. We relied on a RB who has NOT played in a significant game since last year! We needed to keep Williams in the rotation as he HAS shown an ability to get outside. Having him and Bell in the backfield together would have given the possibility of leaving one in to protect the QB (who likes to hold the ball) while the other provides an outlet pass in case the pressure comes too quick.

How is it that I knew this would be a need in this game and our OC didn't?

Matt Jones' rambles against this team were mostly to the outside and left side....why did most of the runs appear to be designed to run up the middle and INTO the strength of the DL?

Maybe WE need to hire a "Football Research" guy ourselves to watch film and log tendencies of the teams we are about to face? Hell, maybe we should just memorize all the plays that the Cheats run so we can hang 50 points a game on every team without having Ben put at risk? (Brady's longest pass against the Jags was to Gronk for 16 yards which ended up as a 43 yard gain)

In the end, it's just football, not rocket science BUT we seem to fail to gameplan at the fundamental level which makes us terribly inconsistent. We have the ability to score but we have shown the ability to get shutdown to be just as likely. WHy not gameplan to the opponent's weakness INSTEAD of trying to play to our own inconsistent strengths?

No breaks. Ben is a bit dramatic when hurt, but more often than not is pretty durable.

You have given out too much Reputation in the last 24 hours, try again later.

And I'm getting escorted out of the office for hysterical laughter...

Barron's hit was dirty.

He was on the ground and pushed himself forward to pin BR's leg.

It's like he realized, "Oh..A little push and I can take him out."

He succeeded.

Then he gets up an starts clapping at Ben while he's in agony. ******* ****-for-brains.

Completely true.

Gotta hope if its 6 games we can go 4-2 or better. Have some tough road games coming up. Gonna miss seeing Ben twice in the next month. Not happy about that but if we gameplan properly we can win some of these games. If Vick goes down, I don't even want to see that ****.

Based on the next 6 games opponents and their location (Chiefs and Chargers away, Cardinals look like a good team, the Bengals and Ravens are divisional foes) going 4-2 with Ben would be good, leaving the Steelers at 6-3 and certainly in contention for the division title and wildcard playoff spot. With Vick at center any away game is going to be extremely challenging because Vick hasn't worked with the silent count, hand signals, and communicating plays in and out of the huddle from the sideline. Vick will not be up to speed on changing plays at the LOS, the Steelers will be running plays as called or calling timeouts to get it right.

Winning two of the next 6 would be good (but may not be good enough), winning 3 is a bonus and anything over that is icing on the cake. They may be able to do it, but losing the guy that pulls the trigger on the weapons makes for tough sledding. Its difficult to use the weapons if you don't have the launch code.

First two words of my post, gotta hope.

I hope we go 4-2. Realistically its probably 3-3 or 2-4. You never know though. They play the games for a reason. Maybe Vick catches fire and we go 5-1 or 6-0. Stranger **** has happened.

If we went 5-1, 6-0 you know there would be some people on here saying they should keep Vick in as the starter.. probably some of the same people who don't want him on the team at all right now.

of course Julio Jones will be there for the taking on the waiver wire, right...

And the dude gets paid for that kind of advice.....

Guess we will see what this team is made of while Ben is out. I'm proud of them for closing out yesterday's game. Those are games we have traditionally lost.

Call me crazy, but I believe the Steelers can do okay for the next 4 weeks minus Ben -- wins will be coming ugly, but they can be a lot worse off than Vick.

I keep hearing this. But nothing of the Vick of now convinces me it is true.

For me I would be willing to give Landry a look. He knows the scheme, and had some moments in preseason.

I've seen the light on this and agree.

What could be a bigger boost for his confidence than starting at home, against the Ravens, on prime-time TV.

In fact, I'll take it a step further: Tomlin is making a mistake if he starts Vick instead of Jones.

Seriously Landry Jones???? Landry Jones that's on the Steelers? Must be a different Landry Jones

I hope Vick's leash

pawz (pause)

is short

before the game lets hook a car battery up to his testicles and shock the **** out of Vick (pregame warm-up)

then after every drive he doesn't finish slam him to the ground repetitively

too soon?

You hero stated he has confidence in him or he wouldn't be on the roster. That's not good enough for you this time?

Yes to do exactly what he is doing holding a chalkboard. But I do know if he does play I will cheer and root for him. You should try it.

I will certainly cheer for him and hope for the best if Landry must play....but I'd rather see jarvis Jones at QB than Landry. He hasn't shown a single thing to me aside from giving me that "kordellish" feeling of angst every time he drops back to throw.

All I can say is he MUST be really good in practice!

Well, he's paid to know so that must mean you don't know what you're talking about.

That's his job it isn't mine I think he sucks. But who else are they going to bring in at this point.. he knows the offense. So he stays. Just because I don't think he(Tomlin) is a idiot or stupid doesn't mean I agree with every thing he says.. I can agree to disagree without labeling someone as dumb. You should try it.

Vick first. But I agree if he looks like he did Sunday I'd switch him out at half. He needs to take shots deep. No point in him trying to make ball control throws.
