I'm noticing that after yesterday it's very quiet on the "We don't miss Pouncey at all" front. No "Wallace plays just as well as Pouncey ... for less" statements either. What you saw in the first 2 games was Wallace at his absolute best. I hope what we saw yesterday was Wallace at his absolute worst because if it gets worse than that, we are screwed. Thankfully we won't face any more teams with the type of talent and depth on the front four that the Rams had. The Steelers weren't able to protect Wallace and hide his inadequacies by giving him help against the Rams and it showed.

So, for all of y'all who spent the last two weeks downplaying what the loss of Pouncey means to this team ... Do you miss him yet?

This will be interesting.

Lmao you think pouncey would of done any better against that front? Stop kidding yourself

nope.
he wouldnt have been able to stop Barron yesterday - on that particular play - either,

Pouncey's not bad, but he certainly isn't a Webster, Dirt or Hartings. There's little difference between him and Wallace, other than Pouncey's ability to pull and get to the 2nd level, where he usually gets hurt.

No.
Also it's worth pointing out that the Rams have one of the better, and maybe the best, DL that we'll see all year. For example the Rats don't have Ngata any more and Suggs is on IR so you can call that a wash.

Most centers in the league get their ***** kicked when they play that St. Louis defensive front. Wallace will be fine.

Than Wallace? Yep.

Seriously, that's all you got? I mean Wallace was the backup to Pouncey for a reason. They've tried to give Wallace help for a reason. Those reasons are simple: He's not Pouncey and he's not as good as Pouncey.

Nope the usual same old crap. I mean everyone in the world outside of Pittsburgh realizes how good he is. But not here. It's laughable.. But then again no it's not.

Better hope so. Because if we lose another QB ... It's Landry Jones driving the ship. Plus, I have a sneaky suspicion that with Ben out, Haley goes all "Turtle Ball" on us this week ... Plenty of runs straight up the middle. smh

The standard is the standard.

I agree, and it sucks. Vick would do better to have a wide open offense, so I hope that happens. Not holding my breath,

Wallace is an average center. Which is pretty great considering that he is our backup.

But Pouncey is a 2x 1st team All Pro Center for a reason.

Guy gets voted All-Pro 4 out of the 5 years of his career, by people much more intelligent about football matters. But you still hear yinzers complaining how 'overrated' he is. Hell- If dude continues playing at a high level (and cuts down in the injuries), he has a serious shot at a HOF career.

Pouncey struggles with the bullrush it's just a fact you'll have to live with. If we didn't open against the cheating ***** we may be 3 and 0 without him.

Wasn't that Wallace out there struggling against the bullrush and speed yesterday? The middle of the line looked like a pack of starving wolves chasing a wounded deer ... and it wasn't Foster or DeCastro getting beat constantly.

Edit: And his penalties ... those were definitely a bonus.

Right. The people that watch his every move wouldn't know a thing about him. Let's go ask someone that may or may not have even watch him play a full game.

You're catching on. What would pouncey have changed?

You're missing the point. Pouncey is a better player ... by far. At a minimum he wouldn't have been the weak link that Wallace was (while not committing Wallace's penalties).

But, as I said about Vick ... He's our starter for the time being. So, I'll hope for the best he has to offer until Pouncey gets back.

I'm pretty sure Beachum was the weak link yesterday

Beachum was a weak link for sure. But Wallace was right there with him. Both were beat like drums at a pow wow. Btw, unless Beachum improves his play, it's looking like a pretty smart move by Tombert not to sign him to that long term deal this summer eh? Of course, they'd look a lot smarter if there was a developmental LT waiting in the wings.

For all we know Beachum may be playing hurt. I'm not going to bag on him just yet he has been very solid for us

I fail to see the need/reason behind starting this thread. Am I missing something?

Hmmmm ... a reasonable stance. No major argument here.

Gotta go ... Work calls.

Beachum got his *** worked yesterday. Think I saw Foster get pushed around too. Not sure if Legursky in the middle would be better than Wallace. We just have to hope this o-line can protect Vick and keep Landry on the sidelines until Ben is back.

That Rams front 7 is one of the best in football. Wallace struggled yesterday no doubt. However Beachum, Foster, and DeCastro looked pretty bad at times too. Scary to say it but I think Gilbert has been our best Olinemen so far this season.
