This is as much about who Vick is as it as about the animals. What kind of person does the things he did for entertainment? Do you have friends who get their jollies torturing living creatures? Do you want to hang out with them, work with them, pay them lots of money? Ask yourself that question.

Its a bit more than how simplified you made it out to be. In dogfighting they try to make dogs meaner. its a sick and twisted practice even before the deadly fights. they slaughter puppies that are too nice... its the polar opposite of how puppy farms kill any dog that shows aggression, only the dogfighters are way more tortuous. Do any of you really understand the forethought that goes INTO being a dog fighter? How much thinking has to go into it to create a GOOD dog for fighting? They treat the dogs that win like royalty and they kill the dogs that don't like. You watch a movie like Django Unchained and if the slave owner watching slaves fight to the death didn't make your stomach turn, why wouldn't watching making 2 dogs? They thought the same things and justified it the same way.

Absolutely, I agree. but the question is is it unredeemable? I don't think so. Vick grew up where it was readily accepted. I don't think the same value of a dogs life was instilled in a lot of these people... its no different than a rat or a bug to them... You are looking at the dogs as a living being, I know tons of people who don't view them as much more than items or pests. that kind of viewpoint leads to sick actions, but people can be taught respect and value...

I really do get the outrage. I do, because I have some, as well. Do you want to hang out with James Harrison? I don't. He doesn't seem like a people person, but he's a helluva football player. Where do we separate the football player from the person? Everyone is not a saint or nice person. I don't have to support Vick because of his past, but him being on the team does exactly what, in the grand scheme of things? Is he going to be the face of the franchise? No. Is he going to run for Mayor? No. He's going to be Ben's back-up. If not for the media, we may not know he's on the team until it's necessary. I think we need to take a step back and see what this signing is. A stopgap.

I did boycott the Eagles sponsors and wrote them letters at the time even though I'm not an Eagles fan.

I used to drink Snapple all the time. My favorite tea. Found out they sponsored the Eagles website and team, wrote them a letter and switched to Arizona Tea. When Vick left, I switched back to Snapple and wrote them a letter telling them why.

I'm not getting your fight analogy...fighters possess a much higher level of intelligence and willingly assume the risks of fighting. Dogs are at our mercy.

Loving Michael Vick unconditionally is for his family and friends to do. Being a professional football player is a huge privilege. Being a Pittsburgh Steeler is an even bigger one. There are a million guys out there who haven't tortured animals (or done anything else seriously wrong) who would do anything for Vick's spot. I'm sorry, I can't feel bad for the guy. I am going to watch the Eagles. I live in the Philly area. I have family that are Eagles fans. I can root vicariously through them. I kind of like Chip Kelly. Think he's doing a lot right and a lot new that 10 years from now we'll look back on and think "why didn't every team do this". Especially with health and well-being and injury prevention.

The game is still about roster building and watching a coach mold that roster into being able to win games against teams that have the same resources available to them. It's the only professional league that does that, no matter how much Goodell does or how much the owners **** it up. As long as the rules are the same for everyone, I'm going to watch. Just not the Steelers as long as Vick is on the roster.

No one's asking you to like the guy but come on man.. He's changed his life around, he's been clean for years now, even gave back to abused animals organizations.. You can't hold this over someone's head forever. There's people that's murdered people and the victims family members forgave them.. And these are animals. I know your pet is probably your best friend, I get it. But he didn't do anything to YOUR pet.. Being done with the team would not preclude one from hanging out and chatting with the crew here. They are not and have not been part of the steelers organization in anyway. The steelers will not be making any money from this site. One could still hang out and be social with the folks on here, no longer following the team would mean just that no buying merchandise no watching games no going to games dropping a line to the steelers org to let them know it as well. It looks like they may have signed a back up and released some fans. I know I have been a fan of the team before the days of the steel curtain when all they did was lose. I have been getting tired of the **** the nfl has become since the fantasy **** has been going on so this makes it easy for me. The one thing that had me interested in the nfl was the steelers, this season it does not, I might be interested next year maybe not, see this might be like beating an addiction once over it why go back? I'll have to wait and see if I am interested in football next year.
