Karmelo Anthony verdict and sentence

even the possibility of getting out in less than 18 years is a joke, and some of the things that were being said outside the court house should have landed a few more in jail. I am a true believer in free speech but if the roles were reversed it would be hate speech and some three letter agency would be all over it.

I wish the deceased had a possibility of life after 18 years.
Yes I know that is a crazy thing to type.
But so is getting charged with murder and walking after 18 years

Generally murderers don't get the death penalty or a life sentence when it's not pre-meditated.

He was found guilty of first degree murder, which requires a showing of a premeditated intent to kill. The premeditation does not have to consist of lengthy planning, but instead proof of a considered thought process and knowing, intentional action designed to kill or inflict grievous bodily harm. Premeditation can occur in a matter of minutes.

His bringing a knife (!) to a track meet itself shows premeditation, as did the litany of evidence about the killer saying, "Touch me and find out." Compare that to coming home and finding your wife in bed with another man, you are enraged and shoot one or both. No premeditation there - you just went into the house, zero plan on inflicting harm. That would be 2nd degree at most, likely manslaughter.

for everyone asking why a life is only worth 35 years - or 17.5 before parole - in Texas...

grade school and high school buddy of mine was stabbed to death by his wife in their kitchen. she claimed battered wife syndrome. never any proof or evidence. no police called, no messages or telling friends of what occurred... nothing at all. Battered wife was her only play.

Except she was 300+ and had 3 inches in height on him. and was a nurse. she left the scene after plunging the butcher knife between his ribs, leaving her dying husband bleeding out with HER kids in the house.

he'd joined the Army because of 9/11. He was deployed all over the planet and had a price on his head in Africa after teaching tribes there how to defend themselves, clean their water, cook their food, etc. Only to come home and marry some C*nt we went to high school with, who had been abused in her previous marriage (well documented) and in a life of turmoil.

her sentence? 7 years. Georgia.

capital punishment rarely ever fits the crime.

She may have a point, Supe. Karmelo plans on appealing by using the WWOTW (wicked witch of the west) defense - he goes into the rain, he melts! He had no choice!

would it be possible for Karmelo's parents to have been gaming the system? No, not in fraud.
They used a public defender for his case. While, of course, racking up skrait cash fool via GoFundMe to buy a house, car, and nose job for mom.

I'd ***-You-Me that they'll field offers from private practice attorneys to appeal.

I saw where because he wasn't 18 at the time of the stabbing, the death penalty was off the table.

He got off easy . He will be walking the streets in 8 years.

Texas law says he must serve at least half his sentence before being eligible for parole.

Good behavior, he will head up a Bible study for 10 minutes that will chop off 8 year. Oh other ways too.
