Apparently NBC was the only one dumb enough to want Tomlin’s “insight”.

For the record, i think no Head coach should stay over 10-12 seasons.. Cowher winning a SB after 15 seasons was an outlier... even great coaches simply don't have late success at one place ... its hard to keep a message and system fresh and sometimes a change of scenery is a healthy reset for them

They were wanting Cowher our because he couldn't win the big one, losing AFC Title games, but Tomlin was getting embarrassed in the playoffs at an historic rate. Yes losing AFC title games sucks, but that's not really a negative thing, not like Tomlins playoff failures Cowher's teams were always physical and competitive. Cowher kind of went out on a high note, Tomlin was the opposite. However people have come around on Kordell, I read Steeler fans on twitter saying Kordell would be amazing in this NFL, totally disagree there, but if they came around on Kordell, alot might come around on Tomlin down the road.

So you don't think that Justin Herbert getting injured in the third quarter, and not playing at all in the fourth quarter had more to do with it? LA had exactly 6 plays on offense before Taylor Heinicke came into the game:

1) A short incompletion on first down
2) A sack/fumble on second down
3) A short give-up incompletion on 3rd-and-15
4) A sack on first down
5) A one yard run on 2nd-and-19
6) A four yard run on 3rd-and-18

Sure, it was Tomlin changing coverages and formations that led to those two sacks and long third downs. Sure it was. You know, because "we do what we do" was never one of his mantras.

And what specific instances of "switching who had whom" which led to success are you taking about? Or are you just making more shlt up?

This illustrates the point. Anything anyone perceives as a possible "adjustment," you will have some smartasss response to. Now, you have no proof it was or wasn't an "adjustment," it's just speculation. It is not a fair challenge. None of us were on the sideline or in the locker room. And this is not some defense of Tomlin. For example, I think of the game in 2024 in Cincy. For that game they threw to Freiermuth a lot and were very successful. Was this an "adjustment" or did the damn staff finally realize they have a pretty good TE and maybe we want to use him? And then after that they forgot about him again, so if it was an "adjustment" it didn't last.

I wonder if the opposite is actually more true. I wonder if teams work all week on a game plan, and in truth a lot of coaches get a hair in their asss and move away from it too quickly if things aren't going well initially. The last thing any coach wants is to be accused of not making "adjustments." They don't give it time to work. My favorite OC after the 1970s was Ron Erhardt. You felt like you were looking over his shoulder in a way, you could see what he was setting up for later. Those 2 yard gains in the 1st turned into 5 to 7 yard gains by the 3rd and even bigger chunks by the 4th. But it seemed he stuck with it.

I had to laugh at your invoking of the Eagles earlier. I am surrounded by Eagles fans and all you heard all year was they don't make "adjustments." It seems like an argument all fans go to when their team isn't doing as well as they'd like to sound smart.

Feel free to post the parts that were selectively omitted. I already made you change part of a previous post. Maybe you did it again. Clearly I wasnt trying to hide anything if I referenced the specific posts in question. Your posts in regards to CMT are filled with just as much backbiting and reproach as anyone else's which is why what you typed doesn't surprise me. People can go back and read for themselves what you've said. You're hoping for his downfall just as much as Don Kedic is. Just own what you say.

I think it proves something though. Tomlin was far more in the heads of those that disliked him. And those that were called "apologists" were merely just trying to give him the benefit of the doubt. You can prove this by the fact that there has not been a thread or a post anywhere that I can tell making the argument that he should have stayed, or it's a shame he left, or the Steelers are gonna miss him or whatever.

adjustments or no adjustments, no playoff wins since 2016, historic 7 game losing streak where we've given up more points than any other team in playoff history over 5, 6, and 7 games span, the worst home loss in playoff history, the second longest playoff drought by any coach in NFL history(second to Lewis) that spans different players at EVERY position but one, that spans multiple GM's, multiple OC's, DC's, and every other position coach. He's the one constant, there's not much to defend.

So you ignore the totality of that season where we were one of the best in the third quarter, not just the Chargers game? Even many of his most ardent detractors on here were admitting he was making some nice adjustments. And if you don't think the Pats were cheating back in the day we have nothing left to talk about.
 
Look, in reality it boils down to one simple fact in Pittsburgh for most, if you ain't first your last. That is how the majority see the coaching here no matter who is at the helm. We are spoiled by 50+ years of more good than bad. Just like OSU fans who want their coach undefeated or dead.
