Martavis Bryant packs on 10lbs

It sounds like the big knock on this kid in college was his dedication and effort. Early on after being drafted he made a comment about making sure he would be more focused and hard working. Sounds like he has been backing it up with actions and deeds. There were lots of guys that were displeased with his effort and dedication level prior to the draft and some actually thinking he could fail at the next level. With anyone that has a reputation like that it is an easy leap to make. Sounds like this young man got his wake up call early and he did not hang up the phone and go back to his old ways but decided to change things for the better. Good luck MB with your career.

Not sure of the influence that he has on the young receivers, but it has to help for a young wide receiver to watch one of the best receivers in the league work harder than anyone on the team. Really shows them that hard work does reflect in his production on the field.

Yea, AJ Green, you suck since your QB does, too.
It's unpossible to just be good by yourself.

Uh, I believe Green was one of the first 5 players picked in the entire freaking draft, not a 4th round pick dumbass. If you think that Bryant would have put the same numbers with a non elite qb then you are an even bigger dumbass.

Yeah, where you're drafted completely determines your greatness.
Just ask Hines Ward. What studs were throwing him the ball prior to Ben?
Then there's 7th round pick Rod Smith, who by your judgement was awesome with Elway for the first 4 years of his career and then sucked and fell off the face of the planet thereafter.

Oh great....two examples. In the meantime I can name you a ton who had talent and their qb sucked and or mid round talent guys like Bryant who fell in to the perfect situation with an elite qb. Bryant is a phenomenal talent, made even better by the fact that he has a top 5 qb.

I don't mean to poop on everyones party for Marty (lol) but the facts are that great quarterbacks are what is required for guys like Bryant to make such a fast impact in the league. Its doubtful that he is in the position to make a lot of money like he is currently if Andy Dalton or Zach Mettenberger is his quarterback. He is in a great situation with Ben and he is likely to cash in as a result. Look at all the marginal players that have broke the bank playing with Brady, Brees, Rodgers, Manning, etc. I'm not saying the dude is terrible because he is damn good but the entire league revolves around who is under center....end of story.

what the hell does this have to do with this thread? The kid went and added muscle to make himself a better WR in the NFL....That will hopefully make him an even better option for Ben this year....the fact that he might not have made such a splash last season if he were on a team with a ****** QB really doesn't matter. He was drafted by a team with an elite qb and instead of sitting around during the offseason, he worked to improve himself....says a bit about his maturity level going into season 2

we anxiously await your list...and I expect a TON. 2,000 lbs of WR's

Antonio Brown. Sixth round draft pick. Best WR in the league.

Again - Huh??????????????????

Looks like Bryant is coming into this season a little bigger and stronger. Should be helpful against those DBs who will try to maul him at the LOS and at the point of catch.

Good for this kid to not sit on a good rookie season.

Bryant scares the heck out of defensive backs and coordinators. At times he looked like Randy Moss. Tall and long with the ability to blow by NFL Defensive backs, Bryant plays faster than his impressive 40 yard dash time suggests. Dearly in the red zone as well. If he can learn how to become a good short to medium type of receiver by sharping up his routes, and works on his hands a bit ( TWO BIG IF's ) the sky is the limit.

he plays faster than the 4.3 speed? how can yinz tell? lulz

TWO BIG IF's

unless he regresses I do not see anything about his game that is highly unlikely from a developmental standpoint

unless he proves otherwise

that extra strength added should help get off jams and help win him some contested jumps.....

I really like this kid....

And I could give examples of WRs drafted in the first round or early rounds who SUUUUUUUUUUUCKED with awesome QBs throwing to them. Looking at you, Limas Sweed. How'd Donte Stallworth work out with Drew Brees?

Don't know why anyone would get mad at this post. Comedy gold!

"See, Billy Idol gets it. I don't know why this guy doesn't."

Pfft I put on ten pounds between thanksgiving and Christmas ....

J/k I have faith in all our receivers especially this one. I expect big things from Marty

Stallworth was always great out of the box in the beginning of the year, then suffer a nagging injury mid season, and fade in December. A great receiver when healthy, just had trouble putting full healthy seasons together.

Unpossible always strikes a chord with me! LOLZ...

Bryant takes it on himself to add weight because he recognized he needed more bulk to do his job.

Jarvis takes offense when his weight is brought up because adding weight would take away from his world class speed.

so far he is the fastest guy to be blocked on the team

Bryant may have figured out what he needs to do and seems to have grown up a lot in the last year. He sounds like he made the change from college player to pro player rather quickly.

He bounces farther off of OT's that way.

PITTSBURGH -- Martavis Bryant heard Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin yell "big person with little person skills" after a catch during Monday's practice that required him to lean down and adjust to a football.

Entering his second year with the Steelers, Martavis Bryant hopes to turn heads in offseason practices. Justin K. Aller/Getty Images
Bryant already has the Steelers' attention after averaging 21.1 yards per catch as a rookie in 2014. But he's trying to place more eyes on him with a productive offseason that included 10 pounds of added weight and his workout to enhance his footwork, a little person drill.

"Running routes in the sand," Bryant said. "The beach, the sand pit, wherever."

Many receivers employ this routine, Bryant said, but he's used it extensively this offseason to improve mobility he said was lacking early in his playing days.

"I used to not be that way," Bryant said. "I used to be just big."

He's more than that, now. Bryant's imprint on organized team activities with athleticism and speed has been obvious, as has potential starting slot receiver Markus Wheaton. If Bryant can be a reliable No. 2 receiver, the offense falls into place because Wheaton can take the slot and backups Sammie Coates and Darrius Heyward-Bey provide depth.

I for one am excited about this receiving core. The direction of the shlitty NFL, requires high octaine offense. We have that offensive potential and with these guys working harder and harder, we will acheive that all the much better. GREAT job Martavious!!!!

Salutyer the nation
