Kimmel didn’t celebrate Kirk’s murder, he suggested Trump and the GOP are exploiting his death for political gain. So please spare me your selective outrage. Maybe if Kirk had been a war veteran or POW you’d feel better about it? Like Trumps remarks about John McCain or Kilmeade suggesting the homeless (many of whom are veterans) should be euthanized.

I don't think what Kimmel said (while completely false and idiotic) was necessarily deserving of bring fired. His abysmal ratings are, this was probably just a good excuse.

Maybe some of these networks are catching on to the fact that "Trump BAD" 24/7 isn't funny or entertaining.

not. the. same. thing.

cancel culture was people petitioning employers to fire people for what they said online. cancel culture was people posting home addresses, phone numbers, email, SSNs, etc of people they disagreed with politically. cancel culture was people essentially attempting to "cancel" another person's very existence - on and off line.

consequence culture is employers firing people for what they've said and done. Similar, yes, but the very fact that these employers are not being publicly petitioned to do so is a stark difference. employers are doing this on their own. no one's "outing" people who protest Trump. Those people are being allowed to exercise their constitutional rights. However, employers are now - thanks to cancel culture - paying closer attention to what their employees do outside (or inside if working remotely) the work environment.

congrats to the left on having their own ideology work against them and suffering the consequences of their cancel culture.

reading @Tim Steelersfan post via Instagram - NEXSTAR dropped Kimmel indefinitely. If Kimmel was as big of a star and bringing in the advertising bucks like a big star would, they'd have not blinked an eye. However, it only makes you wonder if Kimmel was told to tone it down some.

You can't equate this to cancel culture. They aren't in the least comparable. As reported on the news, this was inevitable. Negotiations (aka, you suck and aren't drawing the numbers discussions) had been ongoing. Kimmel preempted it all by making his heinous comments. ABC had the convenience of Nextstar stepping in and there you go.

Do your homework. Kimmel said: "The Maga Gang desperately trying to characterise this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it."

Kimmel's comments were
a) inflammatory
b) insensitive to Kirk and his family and his supporters
c) a blatant attempt to distort reality (the evidence overwhelmingly shows the assassin was a looney Liberal Leftist)
 
I have no doubt that Jimmy Kimmel will quickly rebound with a new show at a new location and will soon compete with Rogan, Carlson, Kelly et al.
