Official Draft Day Thread - Day One, 30 April 2015

Ray goes to Colorodo where pot is legal, makes sense. Can you get suspended for a year before you play a game? The reason we couldn't take Ray or gregory is that they already have 1 strike in the NFL drug program. 1 more failed test and done for a season like Dion Jordan

Berm ... is that "wailing" or "gnashing"? Steelers had a choice between Dupree, Ray and Gregory ... Gregory had major red flags. Ray had the medical concerns and a red flag. Dupree had no character concerns, was bigger than both and had better analytics. Can't say it was the "sexy" pick, but I can see why it was made.

Willie Gay isn't bad. I'd have still preferred a CB in the first but it is what it is. Colbert says he doesn't draft based on need.
 
Dupree had to be the pick or else you were giving up on Jarvis. Ray or Gregory would have to play ROLB, same as Jarvis. Dupree will play LOLB over the TE.

I'm not sold the steelers took the best player on their board, rather the best player that wouldn't force them to admit a mistake.

I think Dupree will be a good player but he's was not very productive for all his physical skills. I'm worried he'll just be Jason Worilds. Solid but not great.

Gregory has more bust potential but he also has more upside possibly be a 12 - 15 sack guy. Dupree seems more like an 8-10 sack guy. Based on the steelers pathetic pass rush of recent years, i'll certainly take that but on the other hand, they may have passed on some impact players.

I hear you but some practice squad bum we pick up in the 5th round isn't exactly what I had I mind .... A true cover corner that can press and play the ball. Maybe even... dare I say it... pick one off every now and then ....

Dupree has no pass rush moves, relies totally on speed rushes to the outside. Going to takes a couple years of development. His highest sack total in college was 7.5.

I think that we need a pass rush NOW - developmental players in the first round concern me...

But, I'm over it now.

Watch Dallas pick Gregory...LOL

Im bettin its Eric Rowe in the second if he is still there. Maybe another corner or a safety in round 3.
 
if Waynes were there I would understand getting a CB, bud Dupree was a top 15 player, can't let him pass, fits perfectly at LOLB, helps the running D and will learn to get to the QB, high character. Again, perfect fit.

I didn't choose him on the prediction thread cause I thought there was no way he would be there after the Gregory and Ray red flags

Why not take a player from a major conference like the SEC? Oh, wait.

Seriously, I watched a YouTube highlight video of Dupree and saw a lot of James Harrison type plays. Not just sacks, but strips.
