"Luck O' the Irish"................................... first game of the season

AGAIN, stop with the travel well bullshyte. The Steelers have fans EVERYWHERE, and they are not traveling to get there.

Ummmm some do………., had to come from somewhere, doubt there’s more Steelers fans than Dallas fans in Dallas…… although we took that stadium over.

I agree that there are STEELERS fans everywhere, but they also travel well too.

I myself am a huge STEELERS fan, but have traveled to Kansas City multiple times, over 800 miles away.

So it 100% will be the Steelers vs Green Bay...IIRC the packers have the only Irish born player in the league
Daniel Whelan...
If it is Green Bay,that’s a huge game on the calendar to take away from a season ticket holder. Green Bay always brings a festive atmosphere, with lots of their own fans in attendance.

Lol as if Rodger cares about local fans... his dream legacy is the european division...

You and I both know it’s about the money.

The USA market has peaked, they can’t squeeze much new revenue from whats left here.

Take it over seas and “POOF” a whole new un-squeezed, un-educated revenue to plunder & rape.

So how does Pittsburgh get compensated financially that weekend? You know, all those people whose taxes helped build that stadium and had the “ just look at the money it’ll bring the community each week” shoved down their throats? Live 2000 miles away and it irks me…..

Maybe Ireland will pony up the money for their next stadium

The same way they did last year, when they had 9 away games and 8 home games.

Tomlin will fly them out the day before. He doesn't believe in jetlag.

With the addition of the 17th game, they alternate home and away for that odd game. There will still be 8 home games in Pittsburgh, but that odd extra game is what we're losing.
The "extra" game is now a part of the schedule so it is flat out losing a home game when nearly half the league gets to play 9. If they want to make every team play game 17 as an international game, fine. But as it stands now, it sucks that I don't get the 9th regular season game this year. It'll be even worse if it's the Bills, Vikings, Packers, or Dolphins because those are all pretty good matchups.

I'm an avid Steelers fan but, I have to admit, I don't travel well. Between my motion sickness, fear of flying, my horrendous sense of direction and my piece of shhit car that can't be trusted for trips over ten miles.... If the game isn't across the street from my house I can't attend. I'm an embarrassment to the great Steelers fans that travel well.

That L designation is for Luxury S10.

Looking back, It seems you were passed out every time I had to pick you Supe up from the jailhouse or bar.

Is it a home game for the Steelers for sure? Don't see that mentioned in the article. If it is -- I'm not a season ticket holder, so it has no effect on me personally, but I think it's going to be a pretty cool setting to play an NFL game. And everybody had to know that the Steelers would be involved with the first game in Ireland, given the family connections.

Yeah, tge Steelers are " Hosting it" meaning they are giving up a home game... the reason The Rog pushed for a 17 game season was so he could do these more often and argue the NFL wasnt screwing the home fans, because they are just moving an extra game anyways... bear in mind it still is a competitive disadvantage.. it means your division gets one team with 9 home games while the others get 8

It also makes a difference as to what day of the week this game is played. If it's season opener (usually a Thursday) then not as big a deal. Sunday / Monday night....... becomes a disadvantage deal. Also, I'd think their 2nd game would be a HOME game, all contributing to competitive fairness.

I have seen the history of Steelers and scheduling, so it's a wait and see, but not surprised if not favorable.

It’s not going to be a Thursday, Monday or Sunday night game as it will be played in the morning of the US time zones.

It doesn't say it's the first game of the season. It says it's the first regular-season game in Ireland. Very different. I am hearing rumors from Buffalo that it's going to be September 28th Bills-Steelers in Dublin.
Some siblings and I were thinking of taking our mother to Cork, Ireland to see relatives in early October. My sister also heard the September 28th date. I’m thinking what the heck so started looking at traveling to Dublin as part of the trip and catch the game. While looking at Hotels, I noticed the Dublin Hilton was available through the fall except for the entire week leading up to the game. Today it changed to the Wednesday up until September 28th which would probably coincide with team travel. Also saw a Marriott booked for same dates.

Heck, could be a conference, rich person’s wedding or any number of things. Who knows

Yep. We will see when and who at a later date and time.

NEW ORLEANS, Feb. 7 (UPI) -- The Pittsburgh Steelers will participate in the first NFL game held in Ireland -- in 2025 --, the league announced Friday. The opponent and the time and date for the Dublin-based matchup will be announced this spring.

I think it should be a division game since they have more weight and it will be a disadvantage to both teams

Until it is written, it is an unknown. Schedule will be out and confirmed. I’m thinking the same as you, until I remember the Covid Wednesday schedule. Anything can happen in America or Ireland.

They should play the Gael to open it.

Just a violin and bagpipes would suffice, but they could go big full on like this...

Doubtful they’ll have a 2:30 AM kickoff.

I mean,I’m sure we all agree the NFL is a business. A hugely successful business. Rodger is their representative. He does nothing without ownership approval. There’s an incredible opportunity to make humongous amounts of streaming,tv contract, franchise money in Europe. Imagine every city the size/population of Pittsburgh or higher in Europe or Asia with their own NFL team. You think there’s rivalry in the Existing NFL? Can you imagine that?

I know I’m getting ahead of myself here. This is just early days for this, and one day long after I’m 6 ft under this could be a reality. The amount of employment opportunities would also be staggering. Who even knows if it would be successful over there. The reverse is the North American soccer league over on this side, now known as the MLS. I’m sure they were hoping for bigger things.

My favorite hangover song that I used to sing when my head hurt and I had to face the day..🙂

Isnt that phrase is form the Doors' Roadhouse Blues? What does Kris K has to do here ?
