Saw on CBS Sports that Sean is listening to offers for Keenan Lewis. He basically said he accommodate a player that didn't want to be here. He's got a manageable contract I believe it was 5 years 25 mil and has three years left. I'd talk to him if I'm Kevin Colbert. Why the hell not, he's far better than anything we have presently and his contract is a tad less than Cortez Allen's I believe. Wouldn't he be worth a 5'th or a 6'th round pick? Hell, he's plug and play here since he knows the system. That's a huge upgrade back there and if the Steelers can mange the contract which I think they could why not? I wouldn't stop there either when they bring in Patrick Robinson Monday. If the price is right you sign him and now you have Lewis, Robinson, Allen, Gay and Blake. That's better than last year.First round of draft then I grab my OLB'er maybe Bud Dupree.
I would love to see this happen, Lewis, Robinson, Allen, Gay, Webb and Blake is a major upgrade then what we had. And if you look at it what is a 5th or 6th....last year Richardson gone......2013 Hawthorne gone......2012 Frederick gone all 5th or later rounds who pretty much didn't do crap for us, give up the pick for Lewis.
I also think we can draft a good prospect later in the draft like round 4 and let him learn so he is ready for next year, this class is deep at CB. Just a few names I would look at as a later round guy I would look at are Rowe(moving up), Glenn, Gaines(really liking this guy more and more, former wr and special teams player, playmaker), Doss and Swann. A lot of these guys have college experience in out type of coverage and with a year to learn in our system could be a future star.
Now the last part of your post is major, if we were able to get Lewis we could focus on pass rusher. With FA not working for us we need help here at OLB in the draft bad and with CB taken care of we can put our attention here in the first two rounds. I have a feeling Dupree is going to go in front of us but I have a feeling our guy is going to be Harlod. The guy I am hoping is there in the 2nd is Kikaha but his 2 acl tears scares me. Other names that could help are Muldin, Thompson, Golden, Orchard, Flowers and Smith. There are some nice guys we could look at later in the draft and potential stars but getting Lewis would be a very good help in letting us focus on OLB.
I also feel a Ball hawking Safety which there looks to be a few this year would be a nice add, which again getting Lewis and signing Robinson will allow us to focus on. Just these two moves could help us fix many more problem on our defense and won't cost us very much. I like it, get it done..........
