Just got a text from Steelers. Brett Keisel released by Steelers.

What was his cap hit, $1.5m? I would've kept him and cut Thomas.

I think Brett's cap hit was 1.5 mil. Yeah, they need to unload fat *** as well. His cap hit I believe is 2 mil.

I guess they really sheared the beard

they can cut thomas in camp he doesn't have any roster bonus

Does anyone think they are keeping Thomas becasue he can allegedly play NT and DE?

This is a business, gents - and like we all knew - it had to end at some point. This saves the team a nice chunk of change.

Thank you Mr. Keisel for your services. You will be revered and we'll see you in Canton in 5 years!!!

I'd rather have TA'Amu back that have Cam Thomas. The kid showed ok in AZ.

I'm sure that's what Tombert will say to justify the move....

Of course, what the film says I guess means nothing to these boneheads. Thomas made Jeremy Zuttah looks like the reincarnation of Dermonti Dawson.

Ain't no way Keisel is going to Canton, although it couldn't happen to a better guy. 3-4 Ends don't get anywhere near the stats necessary to get that kind of recognition. If they did, Aaron Smith would be going. That guy was such an amazing DE in this defense. Keisel is one that the Steelers should go out of their way to keep with organization in some capacity. If he still wants to play and they don't have a spot for him, then fine. But I would certainly hope there is an offer on the table to the effect of, "Hey Keis go ahead and finish out your career somewhere else if you want keep playing but as soon as you're done, come on back, retire a Steeler and we'll find you a job on the org." That's the kind of guy you want around. No bad for a 7th Rounder aye?

It actually barely saved any money....If they keep Cam Thomas Colbert should be fired.

Not sure if Keisel would have been as good after his injury. Figured this was coming but can still see them signing him during camp, if needed, just like last year and if he's healthy. Cam Thomas definitely should go.

is this a joke

This is the year gents, the time of reckoning. We all knew it was coming, it now officially here... LeBeau is gone, Keisel is done, Ike is done, Troy is done, Silverback is done... get the tissues out and deal with it. I loved all these holdovers from the SB teams, and sad as it is, everything must come to an end one day.

Love Keisel and thought he still played good but I understand he is long in the tooth and we have some young talent there. But like so many others have pointed out WTF IS FAT *** THOMAS STILL DOING ON THIS TEAM????? He would only cost us 500k in dead money with a 2 mil cap savings, I don't get it at least Keisel offered us something. I am fine with us letting Keisel go but please please please cut some of the dead weight as well.

Anyways good luck Keisel and thanks for all you gave us here. If I remember right last year he was going to zona when we called him, I am sure we will see him in either Tenn or Arizona this year.......

Canton? Don't think so. He's a fan favorite and a very good football player but he isn't going into the HOF.

Thank you Brett Keisel!

Great Steeler unfortunately with the young talent and injuries the writing was on the wall.

Thomas will be cut.
