"Hey Brad, come here for a sec."
"What's up sheepshagger, uh coach?"
"Brad, they got leashes down there in Australia?"
"Hey, I'm flat out lizard drinking mate, just larrikin'. Yup we got leashes for the Kelpies."
"Well Brad, you're on a frickin'' short one, you understand?"
"Rack off ye Bushranger, why'ya spewin'?"
"Look, we extended you for another year, but just signed another punter as well. So stay on your toes, son."
"That Seppo show pony is nothin' but fairy floss. By the end of Latrobe I'll be grinning like a shot fox. G'day mate and keep your grundies clean!"

Eh, I don't suppose a team has ever looked back on a season and said "if only we had had a different punter!"

I read today that his average on the season was 43.7 yards. I was surprised. It's not fantastic but he had some shanks, I figured it would be a lot worse.

there was that guy who came in when that other guy, the handsome one, got hurt again. he sucked

The problem is he has at least one horrible punt every game

The offense generally had at least one horrible play every time he had to punt, many times more. Not saying I would not like to have an improvement but he is far from the worst of the issues on the team.

He wasn't "that" bad...the kid does have some "consistency" issues, but, not one punt was blocked and I'd venture to say that the team never lost a game because of his poor punting...

Welcome back, Wingster...

Against Tampa he had a horrible punt on the Steelers last possession.

But I agree he's adequate

A few years ago we had a punter that a pretty big tackle that saved a game..

I'm sure they will bring someone else in to push him in training camp....who knows...the other guy might just beat him out. it happens sometimes.

I was curious because I know the Wing ranked 30th in punting average in the league so I looked at the league wide punting averages. Wing's average was 43.7. The top ranked punter in the league's average was 45.2. That's the difference between the 30th and 1st ranking. 1.5 yards. Literally a couple punts could flip somebody from last to first or first to last in the league they are so close.

I'm hoping for that sinerio, stillwright. A good kicking game could win a game here and there. BAL figured that one out.

Its hard to go by averages. Not sure if 43.7 was gross or net so you have to factor in coverage teams. You also have to look at individual scenarios. If your offense is decent chances are you will be punting closer to the other teams endzone and may not want a huge punt. On the other hand if you are on your own 10 and kick a 40 yard punt then they is no good.
Wing was not an all pro, but he was not horrible either. I do not know why the steelers can not find a good punter

Wing didn't annoy me too much, but yeah Hook , LJ being extended would probably piss me off. lol

landry jones has to light it up in camp and pre season to make the team, re-sign Bruce and a young QB and if he has another crappy preseason cut him.
Wing should kick better vs the north end with the hieght of the seats rising to to the scoreboard there should be less wind that gets in now

I'm fine with this. But watch, now they'll sign Landry Jones to an extension.

There is no way they are that stupid. Jones would have been gone by his 2nd year with the Pats, no questions asked.

Yea, we signed the 31st best punter in the league...

At least it's a year, so we have a chance of someone better coming in and taking the job.

His inconsistency is his problem. Sure he can boom a 60yarder, but if i have to deal with a shank every other game, I don't want him.

A Wing and a prayer

Not that great punters grow on trees or anything, but man, why settle for a guy you know is subpar?

The punter gets a 1 year extension annnddd the Steelers have no pass rush or credible secondary.
Choose which scenario you want to wet your pants over I guess?
